Turn off auto-optimization in the app and adjust everything in the game itself
That error usually pops up when NVIDIA's app (formerly GeForce Experience) struggles to read GTA V's settings. Here’s how to fix it:
1. **Restart Everything** – Close GTA V, NVIDIA App, and even Steam/Rockstar Launcher. Then relaunch everything.
2. **Run as Admin** – Open NVIDIA App as administrator (right-click > Run as Administrator).
3. **Check Game Files** – If using Steam, verify integrity: Library > Right-click GTA V > Properties > Installed Files > Verify. If on Rockstar, use the launcher’s repair tool.
4. **Update Drivers** – Make sure NVIDIA drivers and the NVIDIA App are updated. Use *NVIDIA App > Drivers > Check for Updates*.
5. **Reinstall NVIDIA App** – If nothing works, uninstall NVIDIA App and reinstall it fresh.
If all else fails, try manually adjusting settings in GTA V rather than relying on NVIDIA’s optimization.
A new version of the Nvidia App has been released that has probably solved this problem. If you have already updated and the problem persists, follow these guidelines:
Perform a clean uninstall of the Nvidia drivers using DDU.
It is extremely important to use DDU because it will remove residues from the Windows registry.
After the clean uninstall, reinstall the updated Nvidia drivers according to your video card.
