How to get OpenIV to work for GTA 5 Enhanced Edition?
I try to rename GTA5_Enhanced.exe to GTA5.exe it can installed mod but it not working in the game

And that's WITH compressed archives, With a lack of compression we could easily be talking 150GB+ in textures, models, audio, shaders and so on.


The orig game is LARGER THEN THE ENHACE..on disk space..

exactly.. and it's compressed, Enhanced is compressed further.

You're answering the question "why did rockstar pack their files".. and the answer is, because it brings the file size down.

OpenIV is a dead program, patreon is also dead. There will most likely never be updates. The only thing it can do is open updated archives and show their contents, but it won't be able to open any file inside the archives, because the game has a new file compression. All hope lies in the CodeWalker update.

They will not update it, OpenIV is dead. We have to wait for an alternative to come out, which will take a while.

Open IV is not dead meaning you can download and do's thing that fine. BUT... the PROBLEM is they did stopped development Open IV. meaning they will not make compatible for GTA V Enhanced or anything above. unless someone new will make new modding tool.

So how did those guys - who made cromatix and corefx for enhanced version- managed to mod the game? Some of the key features are bunch of DAT files (not textures, models etc.) For example: both mods change/alter visualsettings.dat. Also, gameconfig.xml is changed. Now, how are they opening those files and changing them? OpenIV is a no go atm.
By the way, to change visualsettings.dat or gameconfig.xml one can just use notepad to modify them.

my guess is making a copy of the GTAV_Enhanced.exe and renaming it to GTAV.exe so that OpenIV can read the game, extracting the visualsettings.dat and gameconfig.xml and editing them before replacing the originals and then saving the changes.

Then delete or move GTAV.exe and then launch the game as usual.
Probably but I think the best bet would be to just ask the mod makers 😅

I posted a link..and got a 90 plus day ban..the reason MODS CIRCUMVENT THE GAME PLAY and illegal to use in gta..EVEN SINGLE PLAYER..but that up to u if you want 2 be bann from gta 4 EVER

The original legit version of scripthookv IIRC - caused the game to crash when going online. Hence all the '3 beeps and I crash' problem posts many many years ago.

Then, R* added the 'alternate version' error - that also prevented you from going into gtaonline with the legit scripthookv / dinput8.dll installed.

Lastly, they now have battleye, which also complains if there is a dinput8.dll - so you need to either remove the file, or disable battleye (no online).

If you were really into modding storymode you could even use -scofflineonly , set up .bat's to enable/disable firewalls, flip folders, and in general be overly paranoid.

Modding since near release - basically 10 years - not banned.

i wont trust mods........I DONT WANT TO LOOSE MY GTA, FOR ANY THING...........no way no how...so i wont run them..then rs can never tell me YOU HAVE MODS ON YOUR SYSTEM..AND HAVE BEEN BAN FROM PLAY GTA ONLINE..........FOR EVER!!!!!!!!!
