You can turn it off in the rockstar launcher.

Yes, they chose to try to force install battleye if you were only playing single player.

You can skip it. Open R* launcher, settings, and uncheck battleye. Or put -nobattleye in the game launch options in steam, or in a commandline.txt in the game folder (not tested these last 2 yet) - and it should start without installing it.

You can also run gtav_enhanced_be.exe 4 at command prompt in the game folder to remove/uninstall it.

Turning it off on the Rockstar launcher worked, thanks. I'm interested in story mode only, so when the Battleye disclaimer popped up, I was not feeling it.
