Am I blind? I can't see the difference between ray tracing on and off...
Outside of my fps getting tanked on my 7800 xt, Is it only working for cinematics?

No you're not, I am experiencing the same thing with my RTX3070. There is quite literally no difference at all. I feel kinda scammed lowkey, it reset my business' stock prices. My bunker stock reset itself to 250k when it was at almost 3mil before I logged off legacy last night.

You can see it in reflections, I noticed my character walking away from the reflection of a lantern attached to a house. It's there for sure!
i did many comparisations with on off and the difference is so minimal there is no point turning it on unless you can get at least 120 fps in 4k with ray tracing enabled, simply not worth
i really think rtx is broken...
light doesn't bounce, i get 116 fps on a 3080... wich is way too high.
everything maxed out.
complaining about too much fps might seem weird i know but with rt i should get like 40-50 lol

i can clearly see RT shadows and Reflections are working properly.
I am not sure about the RTGI though, i would have to test that.

Lights shouldn't bounce...confusing rtx vs path tracing, it should have global illumination, reflections and rtao with shadows...

How are you scammed? it was free.

The difference is very subtle, as the poster above me mentioned it's global illumination and reflections, but no path tracing. If you can take a look at puddles during a rain storm you'll be able to easier see the RT reflections, also some glass windows are better than others for displaying the effect.
ow ok, i played the intro into the campaign,
there was smoke but the light from the red turning lights didn't bounce in the smoke.
the first vault was overly bright i think for having rtgi...
the red light was also hard capped behind a wall wich should bleed more with rtx.
so i guess all the things i'm describing are part of path tracing then?
idk anymore atm hehe.

reflections did look clear indeed.

It should bounce, its just that with path tracing there are more bounces per ray and probably more rays in general

There isn't a big difference in textures obviously but ray tracing has a big advantage, better reflections and lighting. If you're just casually going through then yeah you won't see a difference but apart from that the loading is much quicker
Yea i'm running everything maxxed out at 1440p ultrawide with RT maxed out and don't really see a difference. Frames seem to be capped at 120. Cant get over 120 also.
i am seeing no difference either except for rain puddles i think?

I wonder if this is a problem with our GPU card family, OP. i have the 7900 XT. There is no difference from the Legacy version for me. Perhaps we need a driver update.
Ya, it looks good. Much better lighting. on a 6750 xt.
I think ray-tracing is not something everyone will notice but to me it makes the graphics more realistic and without it things look flat. Its like the difference between a hand drawn cartoon and a 3d animated cartoon done with computers. Both look 3d but one looks more real.
