Tons of people are saying there isn't any. I suspect if it was here it'd be like RDR2's HDR implementation pre-patch where it was just SDR with boosted whites and blacks.

Never quite understood that, since I suspect both GTA5 and RDR2 are using HDR lighting (not to be confused with HDR output, even Half Life 2 has a HDR lighting pipeline)

Thanks for the info.
Yeah I thought there was was supposed to be. it is there for the console version.
Doesn't seem like HDR is supported, what a shame.

It is not. They're both merely using the consoles' own automatic solutions. AutoHDR for Xbox and whatever the name is for Sony's PS implementation.

console versions of both gta and rdr2 support hdr afaik. why cant they also do it on pc?

I love these auto HDR and RTX HDR algorithms, they enable older games that don't have HDR support to otherwise have HDR. However, I absolutely hate how this seems to enable lazy-ass devs to not add in HDR support. No release in twentytwenty-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥-five should not have HDR support. Jesus christ.

auto HDR is kinda bad imo but RTX HDR is pretty good. i even use it on firefox (which for some reason still does not support hdr in the current year).
afaik gta does have hdr support on consoles, i dont understand why they couldnt port that feature to the pc version

This might sound unrelated, but does HDR have an impact on the performance?

The auto HDR or RTX HDR methods do. Most in-game HDR implementation's won't. This is because usually the game is already rendering in a high bit depth, but simply downscales to 8 bit SDR. Enabling HDR output just enabled you to control the tonemapping of the original HDR render.
