Am I the only one who watched the trailer and wasn't that impressed? I mean I love nightdive, but... It just doesn't look any different at all from the mod I got installed for resolutions on this version.

We're basically paying for achievements at this point, there's a lot of really broken starwars games that deserve more attention. Like kotor1.

Nightdive is doing God's work as usual. Quake 2, Turok 3, Dark Forces... what a year to be alive. Can't wait for Turok 3 especially, instant buy for me.

Same as Dark Forces, Quake 1 and 2 didn't need any official remasters, since they've been supported with fan mods and have played even better than the "official" remasters for years.

Quake 1 and 2 and Doom have decades of loving care from dedicated fans. The Unity and Kex Engine stuff is only of interest to Console players.

The Turok remasters are nice.

I'm not even gonna pretend like I'm excited for turok3, just less money for me to spend. I beat that game once, once was enough. Tentacle clown car bosses, oscar the grouch, mr clean, a lame as hell fire temple with nothing but floating robe guys. The only good level was the same assets from turok2.

They need to fix all the bugs in sin that kept it from being an excellent shooter. I shouldn't have to cheat cause they got cameras posted every square inch of a hallway.

Yes, you can get a great experience using community source ports, as I have for decades, but official ports like these are still relatively rare, especially good ones that include crossplay. It's also nice that I can just download the game from Steam and continue progress from any device. The best part is that the community source ports aren't going anywhere and the classic game is usually included with the remaster, everybody wins.

I don't get it sin is an amazing shooter with over 30 levels in both expansions and tons of awesome weapons.

And they are going for a game I beat in an afternoon instead?

i just look at it and i'm like... wow they haven't even added the true 3D freelook. (i guess it is more because kex engine is recently used more as a wrapper for some reason than an actual ENGINE)

and the cutscenes look like someone spilled vaseline on them

i think i will pass on that one. Not worth my money

Still, I can think of quite a few classic games that are more deserving of officially supported remasters.

Is the Kex Engine suited to flying games?

-Magic Carpet Plus would be a nice candidate.
-Terminal Velocity got a remake, but it would be nice if Fury 3 and Hellbender did too. Hey, Nightdive, maybe give some support to https://github.com/jtrfp/terminal-recall
-The Descent Trilogy really deserves a complete overhaul, since that last project was forced to become "Ships Fighting Underground." Very disappointing.
-Jazz Jackrabbit could use an update. Particularly a Linux-compatible one, since I haven't been able to get either the Windows Dosbox or native Linux GOG packages or OpenJazz to run on Steam Deck. Of course, Tim Sweeney doesn't care about anything that isn't his Fortnite cash cow and wouldn't allow it.
-Commander Keen Dreams and Keen 6. Maybe Nightdive can partner with Dr.Colossus and finish Galaxy Mods of Keen 2 and 3.
-The Serpent Riders Trilogy. Heretic's HD pack and Brutal Hexen work okay with gzdoom, but it would be nice if Hexen 2 got the same treatment and were compiled into a single bundle.
-I'm one of the folks who loved Turok Evolution, despite the infamously bad enemy AI and frustrating flying levels. It deserves a remaster more that Turok 3, IMO.
-Nitemare 3D and the other Hugo games that nobody remembers.
-the MechWarrior series.
-One Must Fall 2097. Let Nightdive give OpenOMF a hand.
-Unity Daggerfall is all well and good, but the original Arena deserves love too.

I feel the same way. Also, Dark Forces is one of those games a lot of people have nostalgia for but never played past the sewers.

I hope it's a free upgrade.

I can’t stand that sewer level pretty much killed my interest in this game. Would much rather have shadows. The first actual good starwars game.
