For example, what is the deal with the audio? It's just so low quality compared to DFII. Also, the quality of the cutscenes in the story are absymal. It would have been fantastic had they brought back Jason Court (Kyle Katarn actor from DFII) and some new actors to do live action cutscenes. If they'd done those two things and polished a few things up, I think MotS would definitely overtake DFII then.
I agree, the live-action cutscenes were what really sold me on DFII. I just wish later Star Wars games had them for their cutscenes honestly, but I understand they'd probably be more expensive(?) that way. And those last few levels scared the hell out of me when I was younger. The statues coming to life, and the really dark atmosphere (I never thought atmospheres in pre-2000 games could be that good honestly) were just phenominal. I just wish MotS got more recognition is all.
Something like original Dark Forces (DF1 had a fan-modernization which is fairly playable) is just -ugh- in comparison. Mysteries of the Sith itself might be more playable with simply twice (or thrice) the polygon count that it currently has and then it'd be good for the next half-century, however.
There was/is a mod for upping polygon count for Dark Forces II. No idea if it's still around.
Plus the Academy mod for Dark Forces 1 is dead, so... such a shame.
