Nudity: lore/reasons for it

Hello,

I am enjoying the game so far even if I just picked it up but was wondering what the reason for the nudity is. I mean Yippy boobies, penis slightly pixelated, but is there a reason why people are thrown out into these rituals nude? If so (and I am guessing the developer has a reason in mind) I would love to see the game explain/explore that. Also are people willingly going into these dark rituals knowing that they are going to die?

Like the mechanics of the game and it seems to have some overall lore to the world that seems like it could be cool, but would rather have a reason why there is an army of naked people going into sucide circles to fight the dead. And how does there 'loot' make it back to the people in the town (that is who I am guess you really control). How big is that town also?

I wanted the world to feel dark, primal, and brutal, and also create strong contrast between the character's initial state and the state at which you end up after acquiring power. The most primal state you can start is naked, just with your fists as weapons, and then progress to a god-like champion with golden armor and a flaming sword.

There's lore behind the summons, but I don't think the in-game texts refer to it yet. Here's a snippet from the lore bible:

"Dark Priests and Fated Ones
This shadowy order of priests, scholars, and astrologers bears no name known to the common folk. Their sacred charge is to seek out and preserve the forbidden knowledge of the Black Planet, uncovering hidden places of power and preparing the Fated Ones for the dread rituals that await them."

I wanted to initially have a short cutscene at the start of the ritual where the Dark Priests would prepare the player (Fated One) for the ritual, and part of this is to be in your most primal form for the ritual to take effect, but ran out of time. Might add it later during the development, but not a high priority right now. Once the ritual has been completed, the Dark Priests would collect whatever new knowledge had been acquired during it and store it in The Stygian Archive.

If you hover over the classes in the Stygian Archive, you get a short description that explains their reasons for taking part in the rituals.

Most ppl don't care, instead your post comes of as trying to say it should be censored, you have an option to disable nudity if you are bothered by it.

I don't think it should be censored, I just think that it is a silly thing to put in for the sake of having 'adult' content instead of having a real Roleplay/lore reason for it.

So in every game you play, if you think something is "silly" you make a post about it? Just admit you are bothered by it.

It already makes enough sense to me in the setting of the game, as the dev said already it's a very primal and dark fantasy setting.

The inclusion of an element like nudity is no different than other mature elements like violence and gore. But somehow it's always the only one being scrutinized.

I think it's refreshing seeing a dev commit to a theme and treat the audience as adults.

I am not disagreeing that it is nice to see the dev do something different or that the nudity couldn't be used to enhance the mature elements of the game, but I think that without context it is not making the statement it could. It is not advancing the narrative of the story. A short blurb right at the beginning along the lines of 'He/She stepped out of the gates bare and faced the circle. Its power crackled in the air causing their hairs to stand on it. No one understood while the power lay dormant if approached while carrying material things. No one understood why all those who entered never returned. All that was known was that should a willing naked individual walk into the circle and battle the hell within they would provide use with the means to fight back, that their struggle would bring us a step closer to salvation'.

I imagine that is something that the Dev wants. That there is a reason for the person entering naked, to fight barehanded to get that first weapon, to cloth themselves in the castoff of their foes. I just am looking forward to/hoping that it is put into the game. Mechanically having you start with nothing makes a lot of sense, but to be a great game you need to tie the mechanics into the story. I want this to be a great game all around, not just a game with fun mechanics and dangling penises.

or how about something abit more dark. like a ritual to empower someone.
IF they wear any thing the ritual well just empower the item since it's easyer to empower non soul targets or something.

No we need the item to be a person, so that they can be the coduit for the ritual as long as possible befor death claims them..
