Windows 8 Fix Using VMware and Windows 2000
Alright, I've got solution that's working flawlessly using VMware player (free) and Windows 2000. Don't use Windows XP, it's not nearly as stable or accurate, for some reason. Having said that, some people have had success with XP running on a VM in windows 8. My results were not playable. Try both if you have the patience.

1. Download and install VMware player (version 6 is the latest)
2. Use VMware Player to add a new guest machine using your Windows 2000 cd
3. Install Windows 2000
4. Once desktop is up, install Service Pack 4.
5. After reboot, install Security Update for Windows 2000 (KB835732) I'll put a link here but I don't know if it will show: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=20806
Step 6: Install VMware Tools found in the Player dropdown menu > Manage.

Now your Virtual Machine is ready, you just need to copy over your Jedi Knight files. I didn't use the steam JK.exe. I used the original JK.exe and the ddraw.dll and JK.dll.

I hope this helps :)

I wanted to save you guys the trouble so I tried Virtual Box as well, but there is limited 3D acceleration support and Jedi Knight will NOT show the 3D Acceleration option in the Display menu. So, word to the wise.

In case it might help, here are my systems specs:
OS - Windows 8 Pro 6.2.9200 Build 9200
CPU - i7 3770k
GPU - NVIDIA 670 FTW
RAM - 8GB
SSD - Intel 520 240GB
i don't have the windows 2000 so i cant install it
