[GUIDE] JEDI KNIGHT with Enhanced graphics on Windows 8/8.1 and probably any other system
JEDI KNIGHT on Windows 8.1 with AMD video-card - 32bit Graphics and Enhanced Textures !! (probably not only AMD and not only Windows 8, Nvidia users start from step "2")

First of all let me tell u how glad I am to finally make this work flawlessly... It costed me a lot of trouble, though I've read all possible guides and forums. But now it's finally solved, everything works just great on my HD7970 Win 8.1 x64 ! And it's totally new experience, cuz it's an old good game with brand new awesome graphics ! :dsmagic:

This guide will be most useful for people, who've just installed the game or for those who want to start over, because unfortunately when u make any changes to the game after u started and made some savegames, they will become corrupted as a rule and u won't be able to play further normally. So I recommend to prepare a clean install of the game before u start.

The guide is for Jedi Knight only, not for Mysteries of the Sith ! At last, I've made one for MotS as well. Here's the link for MotS [GUIDE].

1.:csgogun: Download "dgVoodoo2_42_JK.zip" [www.jkhub.net]. Unpack it to ur game's folder, u can run "dgVoodoSetup.exe" for advanced parameters later. Delete-remove the "Jedi.exe" file from ur game's dir, as there's no need for it. Everything should work right now on any system I guess.

2.:csgogun: Download "JKE.rar" [drive.google.com] (u should download exactly this version, others won't work correctly).
And jkr.zip v.0.4 [www.jkhub.net]. Unpack both of them in any folder, u will need only 1 file from each archive - "JKE.gob" from the first one, and "JKR.gob" from the second one. Find ur game's folder and create a new folder there, then name it "JKE" and put these 2 files in there. So it should be smth like "C:\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\Star Wars Jedi Knight\JKE".

3.:csgogun: Download "GSX-JK.rar" [www.jkhub.net]. Unpack to any folder, then copy-overwrite "JK.exe" and "JK.dll" to ur game's folder, and copy "GSX.gob" to the recently created "JKE" folder. Don't forget to uncheck the read only option and set compatibility with Windows XP in "JK.exe" file after that. By the way, if u'll have some troubles with light sabers u can always delete GSX.gob and use JK.exe and JK.dll from step 2 - but there might be a problem loading previous savegames after that. So use it at ur own risk, but it's worth it as it looks fantastic especially in 3rd person mode...

4.:csgogun: Not so vital step, but in order to make ur gameplay even more great it will be important to do thist step also. Download and install JK Mousewheel Support patch [www.jkhub.net]. After some adjustments (u should bind buttons for weapon switch, "." and "/" by deafult, to mousewheel - that is not possible in classic controls menu) it will make u able to scroll through ur weapons like in any modern shooter. Also recommend to download and install JK idle animations Fix [drive.google.com].
Download The Music Patch [drive.google.com] The batch file, which u should run according to the readme might not work (normally u'll see a dialog window, where u should click patch button, if not -> the batch file didn't work), so I recommend to install it manually: First copy everything to ur game's dir, then create a shortcut for "_inmmcnf.exe" file with this attribute: " JK.exe" (without quotes) -> run a shortcut, then go to the "Music" dir and run "inmmsettings.reg" file. Ok, now u'll have the original music playable through levels, it doesn't play by default in all digital versions of the game. Also music won't start playing, if u load old save-games.

5.:csgogun: Ok almost done, now the final steps: Create a shortcut for ur "JK.exe" with these attributes: -path JKE. And put it on ur desktop. This will be the way u should launch the game ever since ! Start the game, go to Setup - Graphics, check enable 3D acceleration (if not already checked), set max 16bit resolution usually it's 1920x1080 16bpp, and set the view meter 1 step before the furthest position to the right.
For some Nvidia users, who experience black screen problems, it might be useful to run the game through Steam, but u still need to right click on Jedi Knight in ur Library, then properties -> Set Launch Options -> type "-path JKE". And also in order to remove the border flickering issue use the fix by teleguy -> use only flicker fix -> run "InstallUni.bat" file as admin, no need to copy anything in the game's folder...

PS: Also it might be useful to tune up some x-axis (sensivity too fast by default), uncheck y-axis reverse direction and to bind crouch key for left Ctrl instead of C by default.

That's it ! You're good to go now, be ready to explore totally new good old game !

Hope u found it useful ! :DarkKnight:

If DirectX reinstall won't help, uninstall video driver in windows then remove the rest of video driver's files with driver fusion [treexy.com], uninstall the game, delete the game's folder, reboot, and start with step 1 of this guide, it should work...

The game and everything load fine, its just when trying to do 1920x1080 16bpp the game shows hud but nothing else

U have to use ddraw.dll from JK13 patch, it provides 3d accel and 32bit resolution if there's not u didn't install the patch from step 2 correctly...

There wasn't any crashes for me. U use Steam or torrent version of the game? It can be because of onboard gpu, never tested on such, but suppose they must work fine also...

I myself use i7 Windows 8.1 / HD7970 and everything works just fine. So I don't think it's an older computer solution, but ofcourse u can try, mb the problem is in some other hardware of ur's.

My lightsaber's color has messed up. It's a weird purplish like the texture is missing or something. Any idea how to fix this?

Have u done this guide step by step? If not do it, and make a clean install before that. If yes, look at step 4 and check if u did everything right...
If someone wouldn't mind helping me, I would appreciate it. I believe I followed this walkthrough to the very last detail. I am able to at least get into the game menu now, but loading single or multiplayer continues to instantly CTD (APPCRASH.EXE).
