Dying Glitch?

So I was fighting the fire giant, and (after so many tries) got him down to zero. Things happened a bit quickly and I was mostly focused on watching his death animation, but somehow I failed and died after killing the boss?? I had at least a third of my health at the time, so it wasn't that we died at the same time. And now my game is stuck on the loading screen. Probably gonna have to fight him again, and I'll just deal with it, but I feel like I should at least ask about what the heck happened lol

Yea, that makes sense. Thankfully restarting the game let me progress to the next boss fight so I don't have to fight him again :D
