Finding the spear power in the lava level is terrible
The level itself is already incredibly long and tedious. The map gives you no hints as how to get the island with the power, and since you don't show up on the map, it's incredibly difficult to even know what island you're on. Are you supposed to just try and make a rock bridge on every island? Very unfun level.

Pay attention to the shapes of the islands and how they're positioned. Also you can see landmarks on the map as you discover them. This should help you with the orientation. If the map doesn't show a bridge going to the island then you have to cross it by lava. SImple.

It was anything but. After stumbling around the level for 45 minutes I gave up and looked up a youtube walkthrough.

Exploration is a fun and essential part of the game. I thought it was fun trying to figure out what island you had to create a rock bridge from to reach the spear power island.

Yeah no that level was just stupid, the islands don't match up in anyway to the 'map'. I think I spent, far too damn long trying to build bridges, this was in no way fun and it makes me sad that the devs thought this was good gameplay. I went so far down from the lowest island *going exactly by the map* that I saw the bottom of the map.

The game up until that point was great, but that one level can kill any enjoyment due to the mechanics of it.

Well you probably simply messed up. I built an incredibly long bridge (for fun) from a far away island and still managed to reach the shrine.

I literally made a rock bridge. not even joking.

Paying mild attention to the map, I built a path straight down when it seemed like I was above the shrine. It was that easy.

I liked the rock bridge premise of this level. It could be programmed better, as boulders often sink in to spots they seemingly shouldn't.

I had some problems keeping track of where I was on the map until I got to the lava. Just compare the shapes on the map to what you see and you should be able to find out what is where and how to get to the island. You already had to create some rock bridges before that point so getting to the upgrade shouldn't be too hard.

Youths today, spoiled by in-game maps.
