Launcher wont stop opening!

So yeah , i bought it out of nostalgia ,in the bundle , and even fixed the 3ddriver problem! -,- , But nop! this game simly doesnt want to be played , i press start game , it gives me steam opening app launcher and then again !the starfighter one start game , and on and on... Please tell me thereis a fix for the launcher!

I finally got around the launcher. Start the games using Program Files (x86) -> Steam -> steamapps -> Star Wars Starfighter -> game -> Europa.exe.

Mine still :/ opens teh launcher even if i do that :(

I have tried everything including modifying the registry to get this game to work but I've failed. I am now going to try installing on a Windows XP Pro 64-Bit Virtual Machine. Not the most user friendly but if it works I'll let you all know how to do it.

Under Compatibility Settings in Windwos Explorer I ran mine 8-Bit color mode and it finally worked !

Update: Steam updated and it stopped working right after even with the compatibility settings still the same. WTF !

Update, this did not work because I couldn't find a single ethernet driver for my VM. I trid on a Windows 7 VM and I got the internet, Installed Steam and Installed Star Wars Star Fighter, but that wouldn't work beucase VMs don't sue 3D drivers only 2D-Only mode graphics are allowed!

Stuck Again, why can't Lucas Arts (Disney) patch this game? Based on the number of discussions there's demand for it!

New Solution The game almost runs correctly with this DX8 to DX9 Converter Installed. http://enbdev.com/convertor_dx8_dx9_v0036.htm To Install it, extrated the files from the .zip folder and place all of them in the Starwars Starfighter/Game Directory, run at default settings with no compatibility settings applied to Starfighter.exe or Europa.exe. Mine runs at the wrong resolution (with the whole game shown but with a bar running down the right-hand side of my monitor) but at least it runs and with no other issues

so what do i do if none of this works? i've gone through all those steps and it still wont stop opening the launcher. what's BS is that i ran it fine once without any of this, i open my laptop today and all i get is launcher
