Game won't recognize joystick

I'm trying to play the game with a Thrustmaster t.flight stick X, but the game doesn't recognize it :S I've used the joystick in other games.

Whenever I try to setup the joystick the setup window opens a control panel for gaming periferals and there it says no joystick is connected. Even though when I open the control panel in windows it shows the joystick connected.

This game has notoriously horrible input support. Finding a program that can convert your joystick to x-input would be the best solution.

Having a similar issue. It recognizes my CH Combat stick but it really won't let me map past the default settings and whenever i start the game, the ship continuously rolls out of control and there's not a single thing I can find to fix it.

My fix wa to uncheck all the controllers support on steam controller page. That way it recognize the joystick. If you have PS4 controller support or any kind of controller support, steam will see the joystick as a controller, and not work properly.
