The others improved greatly. It would be fun to see a remake of those games, but I don't think a DmC style game would fit DB (as that would most likely fit with how the games are built).
Where does DmC come into this? I've never played that series of games, but they came across as a hack and slash and not an RPG. This is really less of an idea for just a remake and more so making an actual console/PC game based around some of the principles those games used. Exploration. Boss fights. More control over transformations. The fighting games are great, but they give a very small taste of what could be possible with a DBZ game.
Consider this:
Would the games work well if they played exactly the same like on the GBA, but are set in a 3d environment?
They would not. And since the DB series is know for people beating the ♥♥♥♥ out of each other, a game with exploration and RPG elements based on that principle would *most likely* apply a DmC-styled combat system.
It would also be great to have more variety in DBZ games rather than all of them being fighting games. If we are to be quite honest, the DBZ fighting games haven't really changed a lot since DBZ Budokai. The experience is more or less the same with features and additions added to it overtime.
Also, while DB certainly has "people beating the ♥♥♥♥ out of each other," it also has lots of exploration, character development, character progression, and story. I'm not saying to undermine the fighting aspect, but to merely add to it because there is more to DBZ than just beating each other to a pulp. I want a game with more depth. That is what DBO was attempting to do to a degree. Even XV is trying to add more RPG mechanics to the overly-used fighting template.
Again, I can't speak to DmC as I've never played that game nor do I know how the combat works. I'm specifically focusing on DBZ, the series, and the games.
I don't really see the argument that DBZ can't become more of an RPG. All RPGs are is essentially interactive TV shows. As I stated before, the DBZ series has combat, story, exploration, and progression, which are the four pillars of an RPG.
What Japan has largely focused on developing is only the combat part and the story part to a lesser extent. We are getting a bit more variety with XV, as it's almost an MMO in some aspects, but again I believe there could still be a lot more done. It's only a suggestion for future games.
As I said before, DBZ fighting games have not changed significantly since the Budokai trilogy. XV is probably the most radical departure, but it's also made by the same developer who made the Budokai trilogy. It would just be nice if the next 5-10 DBZ games aren't just XV rip-offs much like most of the games after Budokai were.
