For example it's pretty clear Sean Schemmel didn't know what he was doing with the line "Thanks for helping, Pan". A wayward comma got into the script so now you've got this bizarre scene where Goku, (stricken by sudden onset dementia,) believes you are his granddaughter.
Most studios used to only do the recording with one actor at a time (or something like that, not doing the scenes in a group basically), so some of the feeling in some older shows tend to get lost in English, where the JP dub is well, normally better. Then there's the bit where studios now-a-days are doing the sound recording in a group, which actually helps with the interaction between characters. I've noticed in some shows (games I don't know, depends on who does the ADR and such) the interaction isn't quite right and lines overlapping. I've seen it in a few shows before, but I couldn't name them off the top of my head.
Anywho, Xenoverse dubbing is rather lackluster. But if I do recall, you can select JP I think in the options, so there is that.
Ok srsly, overall the it's not very good. Trunks screaming "HEY!" evertime you talked to him was annoying till the end.
seriously, thats how DB voice recording has always been done. some guy who cant speak english, telling people who DO speak english what they should sound like.
the "bored" actors still sound far better than the 4 generic all sound the damn same japanese voices we get. its either the prebubescent child who screams, the letcherous old man, the way too ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hapy 14 year old girl, or the moody japanese teenage boy.
That, Abridged is much better than the original dub and that's very telling somehow. Also it's fine in Japanese.
