Seems kinda slow paced

From the gameplay videos this seems much more laid back than the fast-paced Budokai Tenkaichi 3.

Might be just me thinking, but so far that's what came through.

I'm not saying the game is bad, but I was desperately hoping for something like Tenkaichi 3.

I think that depends on the skill of the player. I've seen a few PvP matches where both players are skilled and leads to some really highspeed, blood-bumping battles. I've also seen battles where players are terrible and spam attacks or button match. The quality of the experience is largely going to be determined by the quality of the player.

I'll have to agree that the actual normal melee combat feels a bit slower paced. It has a lot of combinations though and the speed really picks up a lot once people start using parry/perfect block more. Since that instantly blocks an attack, knocks your opponent back a bit and gives you less delay to attack right after blocking.

I hope you are right.
Unfortunately the last DBZ I played was Tenkaichi 3, so I haven't had the chance to play Burst Limit or any of the newer releases. But from what I hear many people still consider BT3 to be the best in the franchise due to its fast paced combat.

Let's hope Xenoverse can top it.
