DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE
About to watch a Dragonball series for the first time, Kai
In preparation of this game, going to watch Dragonball K, starting with this series first because I feel like I won't get into the older ones, especially if I hear the older ones have a ton of filler.

That could be good and bad. While Kai does cut out a lot of the filler, some have argued it cut too much content from DBZ. I can't say as I've never seen DBZ Kai. However, some of the voice actors did change with Kai and they aren't as good as the original voice actors in my opinion. It's a bit of a double-edged sword.
watch the original funi dub like the rest of us did then watch kai
you will appreciate it more
Plus kai is not even finished yet
I would say watch Dragonball first but that would probably take up all your 2 weeks until release. I would make an attempt to read the Dragonball manga first, it takes like a weekend or so. Just my 2 cents tho
You'll lose what made so many memes to this day if you watch Kai.
Kai is good tho so you should watch it after
Some parts are better then the Funi Dub

he is one of thoes parts imo

but some parts are also worse

Watch Kai uncut, it's the best DBZ dub and makes the rest sound fanmade.
Also, maye sure to watch Battle of Gods since they're really moneterizing on that in the games now.

Kai isn't really a series as much as it's a cut version of Dragon Ball Z. In other words, it's just as old as Z but missing a lot of content (mostly filler, but things that made DBZ what it is) DBZ filler isn't like bleach filler...which is just TERRIBLE.

Or Naruto filler? DBZ was bad, but current anime take the phrase "filler" to an all new level. If a season for an anime is longer than 25 episodes, I'm honestly probably just not going to watch it. Filler just kills the experience.
Now I'm confused what to watch. Go with Kai uncut?

If you don't want to read the manga, I'd recommend DBZ first. You can always skip the filler episodes if you want, but it's overall more complete. DBZ Kai makes alterations, of which all are not good, so it could affect how you perceive the show. Ultimately, it's your call. Most people here probably grew up on DBZ when it was airing on Toonami back in the late 90s, early 2000s.
that why you should read the manga...first.

AFAIK, that part was exactly the same everywhere else outside of Japan, except for the Funi Dub
I say watch the whole thing. The uncut Dragon Ball Z release. Not the kai version. Some of the filler is pretty awesome. I personally love the Garlic Jr. Saga, which is filler and thus wouldn't be included in Kai.
