How relevant would Hercule be if he was in the original Dragon Ball, power wise?
Pre-Z, when Goku & friends were kids and Piccolo was the bad guy.

Maybe he could beat Yamcha.

Sure back then he might have been something. He is just best as the comic relief.

I wonder if Hercule actually recieved some proper Turtle Hermit training he could have had the potential to become a badass earthling as he is one of the strongest "normal" humans on the planet just knowing a few kicks

Hell, he wiped the floor with guys like Spopovich before said guy sold his soul to Babidi to get power, so the potential is there, possibly

You could have seen him before he got arrogant.... possibly.

I would say that he has potential. After all, Videl was flying around not long after meeting Gohan. It would have been nice if he had popped up during the 21st through 23rd Budokais.

I think in the manga it was revealed that hercules master actually lost to someone who could use ki blasts which is a big reason why hercule thinks it's tricks and magic since his master was the strongest person he ever knew and he lost to someone else most likely very easily.

Surely he would be as relevant as Pamput (http://dragonball.wikia.com/wiki/Pamput) at the time you mention. Probably only could have been relevant when Pilaf was the main villain...

His master was killed by Mercenary Tao. He then took on the practice of never fighting someone whose identity he didn't know or seemed "crazy strong". Hercule's lack of ki usage is likely either not ever being trained in it, or a lack of proficiency in the art.

Probably as relevant as Nam, Mr. Satan is a genuinelly skilled martial artist, and he won the 24th World Martial Arts Tournament through legit skill, which makes him VERY strong for a ki-less human.

What kills Mr. Satan is his absolute lack of any mastery of ki, if he could use ki as the others, he would still be at least a Yamcha in power, and let's not forget that in spite of how weak Yamcha is among the Z-warriors, Yamcha is still powerful enough to level a city if he really wanted.

His daughter could learn how to do it and she believed it was magic from day one while hercule was alive when Master Roshi was a bit of a celebrity in the martial art's community(Dragon Ball) but he was to stubborn to learn it since he never wanted to anyone "crazy strong" But Hercule is to pig headed to train, I mean he is in good shape ( for a non-ki user) and when basicly all ki-users dropped off the face of the earth from death, going to namek or otherwise he probably saw no reason to train any longer.

If he was just a regular contender then he would still be pretty irrelavent, Goku had around twice the strength of DBZ Hercule during the first World Tournament.

The ability to use ki isn't necessarily passed down genetically (since there is no mention of any other human ki user's parent for comparison), and if it is, it obviously doesn't require both parents to be able to use ki, as Chichi is not a ki user, yet Gohan and Goten are. It's entirely possible that the ability to use ki is a recessive trait on Earth, and Videl just happened to get it. It's also possible that Videl's mother had the ability though never discovered it. If Hercule is able to use ki, it's an ability that he never discovered on his own, but it's equally possible that he lacks the proficiency to learn it in the first place, making any training in the art utterly pointless.

Mr Satan is 0 with money and good PR. He wouldn't beat anyone from Budokais in DB. I can't imagine him beating Nam. Normal MP is 5, maybe he has 6 or 7, but he would be beaten by any major character from DB.
Gosen Mar 17, 2015 @ 10:24am
I give the man a 10 at bare minimum, given that I place Goku when Master Roshi met him at 20-25.

And this is still enough to say that he would lost with anyone in DB. He had just luck that Budokai level was so low in DBZ before Buu and even it was much greater event (more mass media focus, bigger stadium, etc.) fighters were probably extremely weak. I would have more belief in him if he had good melee techniques like Nam, but he was just strong that one hit was enough to KO common person, but that's all. In real life we have such guys as well. His hits wouldn't do any damage to any major character from DB as it's easy to doge and predict those kind of attacks.

Dragon Ball is my favorite of DB, Z, & GT. It's more about the fighters and their actual skills unlike everything after the Saiyan saga where it's all about who has the strongest transformation. Yamcha and Tien are two of my favorite characters Z didn't really do them any justice they were pretty epic in DB. Anyway Hercule would've been pretty good in DB and he would've fit in with the lighter toned story and the rest of the characters. Seeing a kid Hercule with an afro would've been pretty funny. I don't think he would've stood a chance against Tien or Yamcha but due to his trickery and Goku's naviety he could've given Goku somewhat of a tough time. Kid Krillin vs kid Hercule would've been a very entertaining and funny match.
