That kind of mechanic change is to big for single patch (i think so).
But concept not so bad.
If devs will read this site, and focus on what community want, sequel will be fantastic.
Something like that could easily be added in a patch. This game just came out. I would prefer it's actually supported rather than even thinking of a sequel bleh...
step 1 - call your parents
step 2 - login the game
step 3 - get a hard on
now try to play while you try to hide it x)

A hard mode implies it would be optional.
Edit: Also, I'd like to add that if someone timed such a patch after or near the release date of the first dlc. There is a chance dlc sales for this game could be better if more people are playing more difficulty modes and challenges. I imagine that more people would consider buying the dlc or the season pass since they'll still be busy actively playing the game past the point they've collected every skill and item.
