DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE
Worthwhile for hardcore gamer that is ZERO % familiar with Dragonball?
I love good games, and if this is a good game I want it. BUT I know nothing at all about Dragonball. Never watched it, read it. So if being a fan of Dragonball is required to play this game and enjoy it, I'll pass. But if it's a great game that just happens to be based on Dragonball, ok! I don't want to spend $49.99 without any insights. Can someone hlep me here?

If your not into DBZ stay away from this game. It's barely bareable by HC Gaming DBZ fanboys and thats only because its DBZ. This game has more flaws than benefits. If you really want to look into these kinda games get the good old budokai tenkaichi games.

No if you dont know anything about DBZ and i dont think no one wants your rants here either.

Rant? Back off. I'm asking a sincere question here. I specifically stated I am unfamiliar with Dragonball, and wanted input from those who were familiar. I want to give them money if the game if worth it. But if everyone in this community is as antagonistic as you are to a well-meaning outsider, I guess I have my answer!
If you aren't familiar with dbz you probably won't like this game. It can get a big grindy at times
Watch Kai or play Budokai 3 first.

I disagree.
I do know DBZ but im sure as hell not a "fanboy" i enjoyed it. but thats about as much love as DB gets from me.
I sure do like animes but i think there are more pleasent animes out there.
still, yet i enjoy this game a lot. You can unlock alot of stuff and level different chars up. Check out the skills and battle with your friends. As long as you don't dislike the beat'em'up genre i guess you can enjoy this game a lot.

They are having a lot of Server Issues right now so bear that in mind.

as i said you can unlock a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of stuff. And have some fun battles with ai and friends. Whatever you preffer :)
The Storywriting is okay and your playthrough will be enjoyable if you do like animes.
It is not a bad game but it has its flaws. You have to decide if you can enjoy that. It really is somewhat like an MMO. You repeat a lot of stuff and try to get the highest score on missions (and there are a lot of missions)

If the money those not hurt you, you could just give it a try.But if you are broke right now you may wanna check it out by a friend first?!

Also, Budokai Tenkaichi 2 goes into the story more, but the game is less enjoyable than Budokai 3.
If you do not like dbz or know it, this is a terrible fighter. Quite unbalanced, extremely cheap and you won't understand why.
Gameplay itself is enjoyable, but I think you might not like it too much for its price with out being a Dragonball fan. I would agree with former posts. Try a budokai game first or watch some youtube videos of the game and make a choice.
If you don't want to watch the Animé, then play first Budokai/Budokai 3, then Legacy of Goku 2 and 3 (as they expand on the locations in the series), then Tenkaichi 2, then finally this game.

really depends, i don't think you have to be a fan, if you like customization, co-op, and some grind, it's not so bad. I grew up watching dragon ball and if i had never watched dbz i would still buy this game. I stopped watching naruto because it was filled with to many fillers/fan service and the story just out right became really cheesey and cliche, yet i still buy and play the games because they are fun.

If you can deal with the server issues for now than sure go for it. But just to be safe try to get it cheaper so you feel like you have been ripped off. If you like the idea of becoming a powerful hero and customization with some pretty nice gameplay than go for it. (Yes i absolutely love the combat and i have played all every dbz game out there except for the ones on wii)

Go on broadcast and watch live gameplay on steam. Read about the reviews on metacritic. I wouldn't trust the forums here for your purchase

Lol? Says someone who doesn't even own the game.

The game is a great fighter based on a heavily modified street fighter iv engine, even without being a dragonball fan, there's plenty to do here, a lot to unlock, and a lot of content for a fighter, as well as one of the best character creators in any fighting game (regarding movesets and clothing) it's definitely a good game, even if you aren't familiar with the series.

Agreed.
It's not that bad as most make it sound. But i guess that's optinions for you. ^.^ Make your own is probably the best way to go

I don't know where you get your infos from but he owns the game. At least he got the nice little mouse symbol right next to his name which indicates that he owns it.

yea haha and i fully support the customization aspect of the game! They can only improve in time. ;)
this is a brawler not a fighting game, i mean its kind of a bralwer/fighter but its complexity is very small though i think tactics play a part. I would say for a hard core fighting fan, there are better games out there, for a die hard action rpg/brawler fan this is amazing.

How about you look again, he doesn't nor does the first post in the thread,
