It's the same problem I have with SF 4. I don't like some of the voices for the Japanese cast, but the fact that the lip syncing is so bad I just switch.
I'll still watch DBZ dubbed because it's one of the few animes that out does the Japanese VA.
Though the japanese VAs do a better job with the villains, but the heroes are better in English(Vegeta sounds like a roided up chick, Goku is just doesn't click with me. Same goes with Gohan and Goten, just because its just a variation of Goku's voice).
Also one of the voice options for a male character is Nobuyuki Hiyama, I couldn't resist once I found out.
Also Beerus's voice is like honey to my ears :D
Really? I love this new Cell voice it's my favorite one int he game. On your good or not part, it can generaly be assumed (not always the case but usualy) the Japanese voice acting is just better. Not because it's in Japanese but because Japanese voice actors are paid a ♥♥♥♥ ton, more than most of the production team, so they have to do a good job. It's like being a well known movie actor here.
English > old fans (1984 manga)
Japanese > fan since 2013
The only way I'd want a different cast is if Team Four Star were doing the entire cast instead.
Interesting, to me the American Piccolo and Vegeta sound like someone I could knock out in one or two punches whereas the Japanese ones sound like guys I would work for.
It's almost as though Dragon Ball Z was meant to be a melodramatic postscript to Dragon Ball and not be taken seriously by edgy 12 year olds, or something.
