DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE
Texture modding without memory editing!
I'm going to post a tutorial as soon as I'm finished writing my own tool to extract textures from .emb files.
Stay tuned!

Yay, I'll be able to change colors of the series' characters outfits, like I should have been able to do from the start...

If only locally.
Agreed, it's silly why some outfits are color locked. If they color lock outfits, at least provide colorable versions to buy then.
mastaklo eredeti hozzászólása:
how did you got the texture to work
i edited the data/ui/texture/vg4.emb
and my folder structure is
desktop/dbxv/data/ui/texture/vg4.emb
i selected the dbvx folder with the repacker and used the right settings
and i see no changes when i run the game
or someone make a full tutorial video of the whole process

What cpk did you find the ui in?
I don't have that folder, I unpacked the data.cpk & data2.cpk

I'd help you out if I had it.

This edits the whole costume how you want it. Manually though through Gimp/Photoshop & other people can't see it.

Imagine later if we figure out how to change those outfits to be like normal ones, letting you edit each part of the clothing.

The only things that would be confusing to that is finding where the files would be for this to enable it & the how we can change only certain parts of that costume.

The outcome of this would be amazing, would probably would online & others would see it & less time consuming for the players to mess with. ( I mean if you can play as a Great Ape Boss from a DLC that's not released yet, this should work too )

Here I am! Mod you like a hurricane!

I wouldn't put the cpk up for download.
Back on naruto, if someone had a different region (or something), the cpk would literally break their game.

On my Vegito as Radish video,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjRG-8G3XZg
I added a little text tutorial in the description:

"Early Stages of modding.
This requires a repack of the cpk, it could mess up your game if you use mine so you have to do it yourself,
I'll make a tutorial for it soon for now use this text tutorial:

Download the CPK unpacker:
{HIVATKOZÁS TÖRÖLVE}

Download the Model swap files:
{HIVATKOZÁS TÖRÖLVE}

Download the CPK repacker:
{HIVATKOZÁS TÖRÖLVE}

How to start modding:
Wherever you want to put the mods, make a folder, I named my folder "data2root", due to it being what is inside the data2.cpk

How to unpack the data2.cpk:

MAKE SURE YOU BACKUP YOUR DATA2.CPK
I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU MESS IT UP & BREAK YOUR GAME.

In the root of your game (Where DBX.exe is located), drag "data2.cpk" into the folder with the unpacker (CriPakTools-master), then double click: "1-EXTRACT_ALL(no_decompression) ", it'll automatically make two folders for you, a data & data2 folder, when the pop-up closes, put both of these in the data2root (the folder you created).

How to apply the modded files:
Download, put the chara folder inside the "custom folder/data" folder that you unpacked.

How to repack:
Open the CPKTools.exe, then use these settings:
http://puu.sh/gm4lG.png & Rebuild"

I think I already discovered that: for each part of the body there are two kinds of textures .dyt.emb and .emb.
In the .dyt.emb, the second file is a texture which is black with two white stripes. I guess that if you fill it completely with black, you won't have shine anymore :D

Doesn't matter if you meant 'only locally', if we got the other thing to work, it'd work for all, be way faster, & be easier to edit.

This is more detailed, would be much harder for the casual player, & can only be used locally.

how did you edit the textures
i use photoshop with the nvidia dds plugin
for the texture with alpha i use dxt5 and without dxt 1
with texmod it works perfectly but with the cpk edit i get an loading loop

I really want to learn how to mod the textures but, How do I even open the emb in photoshop? please answer this. Do you extract it with the same unpacker.

how do you do model swaps
which files do i have to rename?
mastaklo eredeti hozzászólása:
how do you do model swaps
which files do i have to rename?

Inside the chara folder (in the data.cpk), has a list of every single character abbreviated to 3 letters.

Find the one you want, for my Vegito over Radish, I copied all of VTO.
Inside your data2 folder, go inside the Data folder within that.

Initally that has no chara folder, so make your own.
Inside that paste in the VTO folder.

Delete the CHR_PLAYER files, they're usually at the bottom for me & there is only two of them.

After that, I renamed EVERY name to RAD, make sure you don't change up any thing else of the name code. It will make it not work.

Repack the data2 & that character will be on every slot he is made for.
Since Vegito only had one slot, he only spawned as the first slot on Radish, after that, he became invisible from lacking a model for it.

Also, the moveset gets edited, I'm not sure what file edits that but the damages & the knock aways aren't changed. Resulting in some minor bugs.

On an unrelated note, Doesn't SSJ4 Gogeta look awesome in Kaioken?
