DBZ Abridged is "just" a parody dub. It's really well-done, hilariously written, and TFS clearly cares a lot about the series (more than FUNimation did back in the day, for sure). But DBZA is not a serious dub. It's best to watch it alongside reading the manga or watching the anime, not as an actual substitute for them.
gt is 64
i have to disagree u do not need to watch Dragon ball to understand DBZ and its because of the fact that DBZ explains the same thing in Dragon Ball so its not a necessary thing and i think u should start with DBZ if u plan to watch it because i think DBZ is more exciting then DragonBall
isn't garlic jr a movie?
its the only way
and that is the reason i quit watching anime
If you're used to it, it might not be that bad, but it's nails on a chalkboard to me.
The 'original' English dub is all over the place on account of random team substitutions, but as other people have said, Kai is very well done. I'd recommend watching the original Dragon Ball (which I finally watched through just a couple years ago, and it totally holds up) and DBZ Kai. Kai just started doing the final story arc a few months back though, so you might end up having to wait for them to finish out the series.
To me, DBGT just feels like extended filler. Some people like it. I've tried to watch through a couple times, but I always burn out. Despite trying to clone DB and DBZ and mish-mash them into some giant fan service series, it just doesn't have the heart of the previous series. Uses all the worst franchise tropes too in an effort to get those extra views and draw stuff out unnecessarily. YMMV. I do like a few of the chars, so glad to see them getting added to Xenoverse.
DBZ Kai is currently running on Toonami, which is cool. heh Watching it on Cartoon Network at our Grandma's house (we didn't have cable at home) is a defining memory of my siblings and my childhood, so that's a total nostalgia trip.
