DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE

Custom character SSJ hair effects
Something that has me very suspicious is the fact we have not seen (as far as I am aware of) any custom Saiyan character's hair change when going SSJ/SSJ 2, other than a gold shader being overlayed. Now the customs Saiyans we have seen go SSJ all have upwards spikey hair to begin with, so there would be little to no difference in appearance change. However we know that we can create our Saiyans with long hair, and even use the same hair style as Trunks, and it is going to look stupid if our custom SSJ's have those hair styles without any noticeable change other than the gold shader being applied. In short the hair should rise and grow a little bit longer with each transformation, which is Super Saiyan 101.

I know this might seem like a minor thing to some, but can anyone confirm that the custom SSJ characters hair features change correctly corresponding to both SSJ and SSJ2 tranformations?

they dont.
confirmed by a video from an expo in which two guys doing a 1 hour brodcast played a custom female saiyans with twin-ponytails hairstyle that only changed to gold when she went ssj1.

Im not even gonna try to imagine why they didint do it, maybe it meant much more than just adding gold spiky wigs or something else and that was too much work for theire schedule, maybe it wasent worth it, etc, etc

here's the first part

and the second part

i forgot in which she goes ssj however

I'm under the impression it just came down to a lack of time and resources. Keep in mind, saiyans are only one of five races available to play. Not only that, but there are a wide variety of different hair styles. To create custom SSJ/SSJ2 looks for many of those would take a lot of time and effort. I think this is a feature we could see happen in a sequel game, but at this point golden hair is the best we'll get.
Thanks for confirming this Phyrex.

This is a deal breaker for me as it pretty much shows that they halfassed the SSJ transformations, which is a key selling point of the game for me. I mean one can make as many excuses as they want as to why they didn't included this, but as is it seems more like a psuedo SSJ transformation and that really fills me with disappointment. Either you have transformations work properly as they should, or you don't have them at all.

Eh, maybe they'll get the custom character system right next time. -_-

SSJ transformations work for everybody else, just not the custom characters. You can technically just go with a hair style where a SSJ transformation wouldn't change the shape anyways. It's a bit of a disappointment, but is far from a deal breaker as there is so much this game is doing right. I have a feeling in future games this is something Dimps will address because they know how iconic SSJ is to DBZ.
it's not that simple to make hairs to change form and not to poke out of your custom character's butt. Premade characters are more consistency as they was made for that but custom character is not. This is not the only game go for a more simple route. This is a common reality many RPG player face, of course you lot may not know it if you've never touch a RPG. So yeah, I just simply feel happy because the hair actually change color.

And yet Dragon ball Online handled it just fine!

MMOs have much longer development cycles. It's also fair to recognize that DBO did not have the traditional roster of characters, so the developer didn't have to worry about having base Goku to SSJ1-4 as well as God. It comes down to resources and time. Getting SSJ and SSJ2 was practical, but doing custom SSJ hair for every variant wasn't as easy to achieve. It's unfortunate, but again, there are hair styles you can technically choose that are in the shape of SSJ.

less features, less body variation, lower over all quality, hairs are solid blocks without animations. You really don't want to compare that one with this one, the kind of effors you put into making a hair style in Xenoverse is vastly different compare to DB online.

Of course you can also make all sort of excuses in a Online game to add some features later but you cant do that in a game like Xeno so sacrifices need to be made in order to have every core features in the game.

I'm not saying it's impossible, but it is hard to achieve. If they have a bigger budget and more time then may be, but we will look at a game that will cost us $100.

Like I said, some hairs do have changes (the ones that come from pre-existing characters and aren't already spiky).
Some are already spiky, like Vegeta or Gohan adult, so they just don't change because there is no changes to make.
As for long hairs/girls hairs ... Well, it doesn't exist in the DB lore. No girl can turn in SSJ and when Gohan was young, with long hairs, and trained for going SSJ Goku mentionned that cutting his hairs should be done.

So, if we forget the limitations, and the fact that you'll probably will not turn into SSJ just for looking at your character, it's also more lorefriendly.
After all the only hairstyles that do change are Goku/Goten and Trunks.
Gohan, Vegeta, Vegetto and Gotenks don't have a change in their hairstyles.
dont worry someone will just make a mod for the hair im sure

A mod would be nice, but it's not enough to not want to play the game. And you can't say you haven't seen atleast one person hate the game for this cosmetic issue.
The hair change in Ultimate Tenkaichi , why not keep this?
