Button Prompts Keep Switching

This is getting really annoying. I'm playing with an Xbox One controller and the button prompts on the screen keep switching back and fourth from a PC gamepad controls to Xbox 360 styled button layout. Is it possible to fix this?

You probably have an input signal coming from either your mouse or keyboard constantly.
Whenever the game detects you press a key/move the mouse, it will switch the UI to PC. You can check if that's the reasy by unplugging your keyboard/mouse combo and see if the issue still persists.

If it does, maybe you have a fancy keyboard or mouse? Extremely high sensitivity mouse or something?

stop alt+tabbing to cheat engine and this wont happen.

I just purchased the game. I'm not alt tabbing. No cheats involved. And it's not keyboard and mouse control prompts it is switching to. It's switching from numbers 1 to 6 as if it's a pc game pad rather than an xbox 360 controller.

The only reason I understand that it changes is that it's receiving input from something else. Maybe try outright unplugging the other hardware from your PC as you start the game up and see if the problem persists. That's not an ideal solution I realise, but it'll help determine whether that's actually the problem or not.

The problem seems to have fixed itself. I'm not sure what the cause was, but I can't seem to replicate it.

Hmm, I'm having a bit of a weird but similar issue. Instead of switching between my keyboard/mouse prompts, it's switching to Numbers instead (I'm guessing those represent the #'s of the buttons) until I hit right or left trigger, then it switches to Xbox prompts. When I hit any button, it goes back to #'s. I'm using a steam controller, so the input should be coming across as an Xbox controller. Anybody have any ideas on how to fix this?

The issue appears to be with steam. I am playing via xbox with steam open and closed out of the steam process in order to make this problem stop. There might be some kind of input mapping going on with steam. Try disabling all xbox controller mapping from steam and this might stop. Hope this helps :)

p.s. controller mapping is usually a controller icon to the right of the button on steam that lets you play the game.
