Do you think SSG and SSGSS should have been designed differently?

I never understood why people are hating its design. I met someone online complaining about SSGSS's design. Here's exactly what I said to him (please take a minute to at least look at it. It will make much more sense for SSG's and SSGSS's design after you read it):

There's many reasons why SSG and SSGSS look so simple. The main reason is Akira is getting tired of these over the top hair designs. In fact, the original SSG design gave Goku a hairstyle between that of a SSJ3 and SSJ4, a cape, and making him more muscular. Akira denied that instantly. He than made a design that shows looks don't mean everything, the most obvious feature is the lack of hair change and making him skinnier. In fact, Akira has done this many times in the series. Frieza's final form or gold form is so simple looking compared to his other forms. Mystic form, in fact, I bet he created it so SSJ2 will no longer be used by Gohan. Akira wants to remove SSJ2 and 3 completely. He even thought that SSJ2 was SSJ3 (or the other way around, I forgot). Like in Dragon Ball Super, Gotenks vs Beerus. In the manga Gotenks goes SSJ3 (remember Akira has nothing to do with the manga), yet in the anime, Gotenks just goes SSJ. And than we have the quote that came out of nowhere; "Goku will no longer use SSJ2 and 3 since he realizes that focusing on SSJ will make him stronger.". That pretty much shows that Akira no longer wants to use SSJ2 and 3.

And than we have SSG. This form was basically created so that Goku will no longer use SSJ2 and 3. Look at SSG's design. It's so simple, I mean, just a simple recolour of his base hair and making him skinnier. This is once again Akira showing us looks don't mean everything. He's a God for ♥♥♥♥♥ sake. Gods aren't supposed to be menacing looking. All those Gods you see in folk lore with the over the top design are just going way too far. I never knew a God had long ass hair. Now SSGSS. A simple recolour and redesign, but there's also a backstory to its colour. Back when Akira was designing SSG, he thought of two colours to use; red or blue. Akira chose red because he thought red looked stronger in terms of looks. So when designing SSGSS he must've chose blue since that was his other decision, and as a sort of fan service since many people thought Vegeta was going to get blue hair in SSG form. You may be wondering, why does SSGSS look like SSJ? You have to realize that SSGSS is basically a stronger variant of SSJ, so it makes perfect sense why it would look like SSJ. Its recolour of blue also has to do with distinguishing that of a SSGSS and SSJ.

There's a dfiference between simple and terribly lazy and unoriginal.

If he wanted to make Goku simple he sure shouldn't have just resized him and recolored his hair.

SSgSS is just Super Saiyan but blue. AF had better designs.

I don't know if your with or against it, but that's basically it. SSGSS IS SSJ, it has every reason to look like SSJ, the only difference between a SSJ and SSGSS is that SSJ uses ordinary ki while SSGSS utilizes god ki.

I'm mostly against it because it's literally "Super Saiyan with blue", and it looks like trash. Super Saiyan was great because it was a golden warrior form. Gold fit really nicely with that look. Making it simply blue and skinny is lame, just like the original super saiyan god form. Could have taken a book out of GT's page and just gave them fur over their body like SSJ4 and leave the hair original, which would be a throwback to what saiyans are - Monkeys.
And have "SSGSS" just be Super Saiyan with the fur.

It'd be a copy of GT and I know everyone hates it but the designs were still simple and great.
Blue/Red versions of forms we already have is a terrible cop-out when gold looked so much better.

i rather like the blue hair, it shows his normal ki mixed with god ki. (the first released trailer for BOG also showed goku with a large blue aura. but for the 2nd trailer and movie it got changed to red)
ssj4 is over designed trash (mascara around the yes, magic apearing mc hammer pants, pink fur) and AF better designs? color swaps are better designs now?

im against it because it just looks stupid. the blue hair makes him look like some retarded power ranger type sumbitch.
then theres the name. super saiyin god super saiyin. youre gonna say he put any real thought or effort into any of this? hes an old man who ran out of good ideas when he killed off cell and let the zfighters have their happy ending. hes been riding a gravy train to the groundsince then, and at this point hes literally just doing the first stupid thing that pops into his senile head.

af is a better design because it drastically changes the look of the character to something both recognizable as goku, and unique. none of the colors clash, or are lazily overlayed over the whole character like ssg and ssgss. not only that, it was a design that kept in pace with the way the various ssj forms had evolved as such. with each form, the hair got bigger, the aura deeper, and at certain stages drastic changes were made to the body and/or mind of the saiyin in question.

ssg and ssgss are just ss1 with a red overlay, and ss2 with blue hair. theres not even any actual change in the characters personality, because now their "gods". and now EVERYONES gonna become a god. and well need 7 of them. and then the GOD DRAGON BALLS WILL BE SUMMONED AND THE GOD DRAGON WILL COME. come on bro. he stopped trying when he started drawing majin buu.

I personally dont think they need to be designed differently, But i do think they should have renamed the forms... I mean c'mon Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan? Christ man....

In my opinion they should have named the 1st godform just Saiyan God, And the baseform should be ok for that. Because it's basicly a "normal" god state.

The second form should have been called Super Saiyan God. Because it resembles the 1st Super Saiyan form.

Evendough i kinda like both forms, If the creators would have been a bit less lazy i feel they should have redesigned them, Even if it was just to breathe new life into Dragonball and make it more interesting for the younger generation/ the new viewers of the franchise.... And even the older generation for that matter.

I think it can be safely said that you are in good company on that.

I love Super Saiyan God, because to me it hit all the right notes of being otherwordly in an un-Saiyan sort of way: was that not the point? Between the skinny build, the calming magenta opposing the harsh red of Kaio-ken, and the aura continaully changing colors. Bluper Saiyan is terrible; the light blue clashes with everything it touches, and the dialed back aura is boring. Quite literaly verything that made the original God form work was cut in the name of "mastery" and an easier design.

Design and whole concept of this is a one big mess. Lazy and stupid. I hate it like nothing else, worst thing happened in anime industry, ever. Fan works made in paint were much better.

I for once agree with the OP, at least for the most part.

In the case the Saiyan transformations I have to agree. SSJ 3 already looked pretty ridicolous and I would have no idea how to push that any further without looking like those stupid fake SSJ forms from AF. Sometimes less is more. I wasn't a fan of SSJ 4 either FYI.

The way I see it is pretty simple. SSJ God is the true next level, the one that seperates you from the regular mortal beings. I didn't mind this form being similar to base at all, being a new beginning of sorts. The SSJGSSJ has a terrible name (I think "Ascended Super Saiyan God 1" would sound a bit better) but look wise I quite like it.

In the case of Frieza's transformation, I'm a bit torn. It made me happy that he got something that made him more equivalent to the gods but the looks could have been a little better. I always liked his third form the most so I was kinda hoping for something similar to that, but what we got was ok, just not great IMO. His design lost detail compared to his (already simple) 4th form. There is so much you can do with that design without it looking silly.

So in conclusion: SSJG transformations are well done enough for me, Frieza's "ultimate evolution" could have been a bit more creative though, rather than further simplifying his design.

I think the transformations are alright, but they could've looked cooler or just more menacing. After all, this is god form, so why does SSG Goku look like a teenager? It's basically just red Goku, which is pretty lazy, but I do kinda dig the aura and lean figure. SSGSS is just Super Saiyan Goku with blue hair. Still looks cool, but also could've been better. While I don't like GT very much, I think that Toriyama hit the nail on the head with SS4 Goku. That transformation just looks amazing.

So, the transformations are alright. But what really gets on my tits are the names. Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan. Why would ANYONE think that was a good name? The red SSG should've just been called "Saiyan God" and the blue one should've taken "Super Saiyan God" as its name.

You know, the funny thing for me is that I saw Resurrection F in the theaters (dubbed) and at no point did they even give the blue SSJ transformation a name.

I don't know where SSGSS is from, but its not the movie. At least I haven't heard it throughout the whole thing.

Personaly I liked the hair style from ssj4 (only the hair), I had assumed he'd use that (recolored blue) for god mode, but apparently not. as for making him thinner... why? Goku has literaly fought the most vicious beings in the universe starting since he was a child, and he looks it too whenever he actually gets serious - he's big and he's dangerous too, though people fail to see that cause of how goofy he tends to act.
