"game.exe" crashes when it launches

Whenever the game launches, it does so as "game.exe", and always crashes without fail. It has not started even once. I've no special characters in my name, and i've checked the redists and restarted my computer, and I don't have any graphics booster programs running.

I've loved Raiden since I was very young and my dentist had the Raiden arcade cabinets in his office. How can I play this game?

I had this exact same problem, the game instantly closed after launching.
Navigating to the game folder and launching the .exe manually led to three MSVCxxx.dll errors. This gave a clue to the problem (MSVC DLLs are Microsoft Visual C++ runtime files).

First, go to Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs, and uninstall the Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable program. Both the x86 and x64 ones.
Then, navigate into the game folder for Raiden IV, go into the _CommonRedist folder, and run both of the vc_redist installers (x86 and x64).
If you run the installers but they stall indefinitely, then you need to reinstall from the control panel first.

After reinstalling those two, Raiden IV started up fine for me.

Just had game.exe crash when trying to upload a score to the leaderboard. Game has worked fine until today (a few hours of play). Using Windows 7 64-bit btw.

here is what worked for me,
It was crashing upon boot getting an "load library failed with error 87" .
there was a youtube guide for that error,did it, but it failed to start it.
Hardware is a laptop with the onboard grapics and a Radeon R9, Windows 7.
(I was also missing a compatibility tab in program preferences.)

Recently updated to Windows 10, have found a way to work it.
from the Control Panel go to Programs,
there should be something like "use a program made for older version of windows"
(sorry I don't use system language in English,so)

The tool starts looking for programs but won't locate Raiden.
click on "Not on list"(or sth like that) from the list,
and locate your game file in
Program Files(x86)>Steam>Steamapps>Common>Raiden4OVK>game.exe

Next, you click on the upper of the two, and it will show a run test button.
clicking on it will try to run the game.
If it works, close it, and select "apply this config to this app every time".

note;it also worked for hotline miami.

I found out I had to unplug my RAP4 Kai in order for the game to launch. It's a shame because I'd love to use it for this, but whatever. At least I can actually play again.

Was a controller issue for me. Had to switch my SFV arcade stick from PS4 mode to PS3 mode. Works fine now.

I've got the same problem. As a comparison Undertale works raiden doesn't at all.
