Red Circles/Lines missing
Its hard to dodge attacks when you can't see the 'infamous' red lines or circles, they was originally working now they don't seem to work. Currently, going through a repair process see if that helps ~ is this a common problem?

If you mean the little areas that showed up on Island of Dawn, those were only there to get you used to the concept that enemy attacks have specific ares of effect. Expecting those to stay through out the entire game is kind of silly. You need to learn to anticipate enemy movements with out that crutch (because that's all it is) otherwise you'll end up weighting your party down in higher level dungeons.

Those are also a fairly new part of the game, as they didn't exist when I started playing.

Well, thats also kinder crappy ~ if your fighting a huge boss in a dungeon, how are you supposed to learn where to move too if it does a huge attack/aoe or something? Thats kinder stupid if you ask me - I wonder how many players are killed in because they don't know where to dodge/evade to without dying a dozen times before you learn everything?

Those red indicators are for beginners. You will eventually get used to how bosses attack, they all show a specific "tell" when they're about to do a particular attack. They can't have the entire game in "beginner" mode =b.

Certain AOE attacks still show the red circle but not the frontal cone ones.

We didn't even have the red indicators until this new patch. As if Island of Dawn mobs not being aggressive wasn't bad enough now they tell new players when to dodge. You have to observe and learn the mechanics of all the creatures the good thing is a lot of them are replicates and you have to learn bosses as well usually through trial and higher. Learning attack patterns is what saves you. It took us about a week to get one of the new dungeons last patch down to where we knew what was coming. The boss always has some sort of indicator for when a big attack is going to happen. You'll learn.

I'm just used to WoW, when a raid boss would do an attack - it clearly displays it. I haven't done any dungeons or anything yet in Tera, but I did fight a Basilisk earlier and died because it did attacks that I couldn't tell what/where it was going/doing. >.>

Which is why you fight them over and over and over until you learn their movements, patterns, and tells. Death is only part of the learning process.

Some attacks, particularly those related to a distant AoE will still display a warning circle showing the intended target. Other attacks, like those with a linear path or some other plain graphical representation won't warn you ahead of time, forcing you to anticipate where they will hit and react accordingly. This isn't WoW, you have evasion and movement skills that have short cooldown times for a reason.

There is always a pattern the attacks come in. The "ultimates" almost always have audio and on screen text as a warning. When it comes to bosses if there's orange. Get away.

I'm guessing its harder since I'm a melee character, a friend told me to make a Slayer character for my first one

Just treat the combat as you would an action game, always on the move, and looking at the enemies. That's the best point of this system for me.

Pretty much this, treat a Slayer like playing Darksouls. Circle around and roll when they attack, attack them when they stop or look vulnerable. When in doubt, just remove any crystals you have and spend about an hour or so mostly just dodging attacks until you recognize the pattern.

There are only about a dozen or so different movement sets used by BAMs, so once you learn them, you're mostly golden and can recognize new moves as you face higher level versions. Instance bosses can have unique moves too, but most the time these are paired with an onscreen message.

So are you saying the very first time you encountered a new raid boss in WoW, you immediately knew how they would attack and would kill it flawlessly? No, you learn from your encounter and get better at it, no different than TERA or any other game.

i know i'm pretty late on this (really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ late), but if the "red circles; lines" don't appear go to options > game and enable "player alerts" (display monster's attack range, display boss monster's attack range)
