All armors are situated the same way.
You need a design learned (right click on it in inventory when not mounted) before the item will be listed in your crafting menu. Crafting requires both the materials in your inventory as well as production points (pp).
Additives are a premium item purchased from the online store that can "increase" your chance of a critical outcome when crafting. A critical outcome usually means either producing extra materials, or in the case of endgame equipment, masterworked versions that have boosted stats (which can also be made by using a masterwork enigmatic scroll on equipment that is already made). Given the cost of the additives and the low increased chances it gives, it only makes sense when using it for crafting that is extremely expensive on its own (10k gold and above range). They exist primarily as a means of improving your chances at good results instead of spending the normal time and gold that you would otherwise, at the cost of real world cash.
All that said, in almost all cases crafting below level 65 is not worth the time and effort. The equipment you can make is significantly worse than the things that drop in dungeons, meanwhile the cost of all the materials (and the related kits that you need to produce them) is usually higher than it costs to buy similar or better gear from the broker. This is a Korean MMO, crafting was never intended to be a good way to get equipment and was largely implemented (during beta) as a means of establishing a base-line means of equipping a character when dungeons were more difficult and superior grade equipment wasn't handed out by every storyquest. Even at endgame, it exists solely as a means of adding an alternative to dungeon grinding for equipment. There are also a very large number of people around who are crafting items and usually selling the things they produce for less than it costs since they are trying to increase their skills. Unless you are already at endgame and are able to gather/produce the majority of everything you need for no real cost, you won't earn anything from crafting in this game.
Regarding weapons, bows for example, I couldn't find any design for them in workshops (you know there are 5 workshops in Velika). I found for gunner, lancer, sorcerer and so on but not for archer. Same with armor for archer.
Regarding additive, lets forget it. The problem is that I have the 2 components for crafting a minor scroll (and of course I have learned the design), yet I can't craft it. Craft button is idle.
