She spent over $60,000 on slots before she won the car. The car that is worth $14.5k brand new.
Moral of the story? Don't gamble what you aren't willing to lose. There are DOZENS of costumes for VERY cheap that you can buy outirght, but instead you bought loot boxes because they were cheaper and yet you ended up paying 3x as much and still got nothing. At least the old lady got her car...
But, you did choose to take that chance.
Granted, it would be great if they were required by law to show the percentage chances of getting each item, but so far that's not something you tend to see often (recently, Overwatch was required by Chinese law to show that data for their boxes, so maybe that sort of thing will spread to other countries and be required of all games with loot boxes, eventually).
On a side note, aren't cosmetic items like that postable in the auction house? If so, you could always check and see if the thing you want is being sold by another player.
Outfits werent really thing when I quit around launch. But yeah you used your real money, I assume to buy cosmetics. WAs more balanced imo
Buy them outright from the tera store, if they are loot box locked then don't go to the broker, advertise on the trade chat or global and you get bet your ass for the right price someone WILL sell that costume you want.
Loot boxes are designed with one things in mind. TO recover money for EnMasse. Do people win? Yes they do. But not bearly as much as you would think. Stay away from loot boxes unless you want to donate all your cash for nothing.
Don't blame you for disliking the system. Its awkward and often results in frustration. If you enjoy the gameplay aspects, I'd keep playing but never spend any more money. You can farm gold and use it bo buy nearly everything in the cash shop.
