(Solution found) Found a major problem

This has happened twice and it isn't noticeable until late in the game which is like several hours and the only way to fix is either a massive headache to do or to just start over.

What seems to happen is with growing the vines into the islands and if you don't keep going up one notch higher and say you skip a floating island and instead grow to the next higher one, then you don't get credit.. or the star flower thing doesn't grow. So you then look around to find which one you're supposed to grow a vine into and maybe you do or maybe not, either way you could end up with several vines stuck into islands that you didn't get credit for then later you come back to them and you might then get the credit or still maybe not.

It's kinda hard to explain but my last map I must have skipped several islands though I was getting some credit for some of them and my star flower was just under the big asteroid but I had vines stuck several times into so many islands that I had no idea where to go and I kept trying to grow the vines into islands but the star flower never grew any further. This was at 80% crystals found, so I don't know if it can be fixed but its super annoying that I'll have to start all over and just try to be very careful of the order I go with growing vines into the islands.

Anyone else have this happen and if so, then how did you resolve it?

Did you notice that the island that provide power for the star plant have a glow on the rock?

The islands that power the star plant have gigantic green glowing rocks underneath them. They're really obvious at night time, but easy to spot during the day if you're looking for them. Okay.. yeah, I saw those islands with the glowy parts but never tied it together that it was them that grew the star flower. If fact I could have sworn I connected some vines to some islands that didn't have the glowy bottoms and still grew the star flower, but maybe not.. I don't know.

With the tips you've given I now understand and have finally finished the game, except I have like 13 crystals left to find.

Cool. If you've enjoyed it a lot so far, it's worth finding all the crystals imho. You get a really sweet upgrade, and there's a little bit more game at the end as well (well, just more collection really).
