[Solved] Stuck in Pankot Secrets in the Temple of Doom Chapter - gate opening mechanism bugged
I'm posting this just in case somebody ever finds a solution or runs into same issue so we can be sad together.

In Pankot Palace mission, second of the Temple of Doom Chapter, after the dinner sequence (in the palace itself, past the elephants), you are supposed to open yet another simple gate with the golden key - simple enough, you do that all the time in the game. Sadly, it got stuck during the opening animation - my character suddenly stops moving the wheel, the animation gets corrupted and the gate won't open.

I've tried restarting the mission, the game, the computer, nothing worked. And I couldn't find anyone else experiencing the same issue. This isn't like the v-sync issue, this is out of nowhere broken mechanism that otherwise works everywhere else. I don't have it in me to try to make a completely new game save and spend another 5 or so hours to get to that point to test out if it's going to break again or not.

Try changing your Video/Effects to their lowest/off settings and switch off any Extras you have. If it works you can change back to your usual settings straight away.

Hope this helps :)

I'm afraid I've tried that as well - even through the config in AppData that has much more options. I might try again just to check if I've turned everything off, but there wasn't much to turn off directly in game to begin with, if I'm not mistaken, it only has like 2-3 options.

EDIT: Just tried it again, making sure everything was off or on low. No difference, still stuck in broken animation.

Hope you get through.
I know it's probably not related, but some people are having trouble with Lego games not starting/crashing/running properly because of a sound issue. You could try changing your computer sound settings to very basic, 16Bit 44100Hz, and see if that has any effect. Sorry bit of a long shot.

Good Luck :)

I've seen some weird stuff, but I really don't think a broken animation/door opening is going to be affected by basic sound - especially if it might not even be related to this game, but other LEGO game with differences with engine. If it was about the game not starting or something consistent, at least I would know that the game doesn't like something about my system etc. But this is 8 missions in, hard stuck.

The only thing I might try is to just delete the old save and try again - I'm not big into LEGO games at all, but I like this one the best so far, so despite of what I've said in OP, I might try it again, after all, the game is fun.

Sorry I couldn't help. Good Luck, I've had two or three Lego games that I've had to restart at 99% because of glitches. But I must say I've enjoyed playing them for all their faults.

Have Fun! :)

I appreciate the kind words nonetheless, cheers!

Well, I'll be damned - it turns out that I've overlooked that there is a part of the opening mechanism on the table! I guess I should be mad, because this comes out of nowhere and it seemed like a bug, so I haven't tried connecting that piece to the door opening mechanism, didn't notice that it was missing a piece to begin with, and on top of that, when I looked at youtube video, I switched to a part where it looked like the guy was opening it without needing to fix it to begin with, well - I'm glad that in the end, it's not a bug and I can move on.

Still, I don't remember last time something so silly has happened to me - and frankly, the game has these moments where I got stuck because it didn't look like I can do something.

Happens to us all at some point.

Well done for solving it :)
