This used to work in the very early game but not enymore.
If you look at the efficiency of the building, you will see x% efficiency and the number of hunter working, or doing other things, like building, or sick, etc
When I was in dire need of workers, I reduced the number of workers in one of the huts from 15 to 5 to get coal fast. But after that I put them back and built 2 more huts because I had a food shortage. After 3 days of getting no food I think last I checked I had one hut at 60% efficiency and the other to at 90-something percent. All three huts were fully manned during those 3 days and I got no raw food at all.
I spotted some people walking into the mountains at night (edge of the map), without any shift extension or anything like that (so it was time to go sleep).
I didn't have any building there or resources to gather either so I had no idea what they were doing so I just ignored it.
Could it be related?
my previous comment was just random.
Those people walking into the mountains are the hunters. I assume you built the huts for that.
Again about the people walking into the wall, those are the Hunters. That represents them going into a forest to hunt animals for food. and they will return later. if you built a Hunters Hunt , then you will see those people do that. thats normal behavior .
About your Original question about food supplies, im not sure. I always been low on food. Try building a extra hut or two and have it fully staffed. And maybe make a storage building and set it to food. Im New too. so im not totally sure yet.
Indeed, hunters sleep during the day and go out at night. Taking out hunters from their job post, their little cooldown(unseen) resets and they wont get food until the next night. I assume that's the problem.
You will see them leaving to hunt at night.
Thanks for the answer.
