last autumn => winterhome/refugees/arks => new home => on the edge

seeing how refugees/arks are basically standalone as they don't have any connection to new home and don't culminate in the great storm either

ya i was thinking the same but to go lie arks or refugees first.. then winterhome then new home

Well honestly I don't think playing in chronological order makes much sense to be honest.

If you're a new player, you're forced to play "A New Home" first anyway before you can play other scenarios, but a new player who needs to get used to the controls and gameplay is best served playing a A New Home Anyway. Plus the way the game was built (and DLC was released) lends itself to the non-linear story telling anyway, and most of the DLC stories are better understood because you've picked up stuff from the other scenarios.

I would not start with Last Autumn cause there are some references in it that only really make sense when you played New Home, Refugees and Winterhome first.

This is my recommendation

New Home -> Refugees/Arks -> Winterhome/Last Autumn -> On The Edge.

well i am not a new player..and i was thinking to get the season pass, then go on to play it in some kind of an order

Yeah, New Home, then Winterholm if you want, refugees is optional but does add some more, and finally last Autumn because it's exploration missions reference all of the above, on the edge should be last, but tbh if you're beaten New Home you can go into Last Autumn then OTE when it comes out, those are all three interrelated and work well.

From what I can see the OP never asked for the best order to play as the new player. More like the order in which the story unfolded. It's purely academical of course, because yes a new player will always have to start with a new home.

yup. a new player has to play new home

ive already played the scenarios like 2 times each atleast..

so now it will be like a full play on from start till end, my oreder was going to be like this

The last autumn- as its the prequel, start of snow
Refugees- as when the snow hit and people came to know about generators they went for it
Arks- as a parallel thing they got the arks ready
winterhome- it was a city which was operational and the riots happened
New home- as this is the one where the big storm hits in the end
on the edge- after the storm

Play the scenario in the order they came out, they teach you the mechanics in the correct order.
Playing thebmast autumn is a mistake.

assuming you already played every scenario,

the last autumn
the refugees
fall of winter home
new home
on the edge

the last autumn references lord Cravin being elected as prime minister and the refugees scenario carries on with it

reason why i didn't put the arks down is that it does not tie into a new home or the other main campaign unless on the edge ties it in with new Manchester or the seed vault somehow. if that was the case then I would predict the a new home and the arks are happening at the same time and would put it after a new home. my 2 cents

If I was buying it today, I would play them in order of difficulty. IMO that would be Last Autumn (easiest), New Home, Arks, Refugees, Winterhome (hardest).

i was thinking the same order

New players should just do the release order. Arks is the worst one by far imo so you can skip it or do it last.
