You can now disable your Newsfeed in Frostpunk.
Hey Citizens!

We understand that not everyone wishes to see the promotional materials concerning our games, products or other 11 bit events, which is why in this update, apart from some necessary newsfeed maintenance, we also added the option to disable these materials completely.

If you go into your Frostpunk main menu settings you can toggle the "Disable Newsfeed" option to "Yes" and it will not only disable our Newsfeed, but also the banner in the bottom of the Menu.

Hope this helps!

Will it also stop the 1GB ""updates""?

So i need to install everything in this update so i can go in and turn it off.
Will the game uninstall again then ?
Or is there more in this updates that you guys havent told us ?
Haha, the people flamed so hard about a small banner in the main menu that you really took the time and spent valuable development hours on adding a toggle.

Jesus, this community has too many crybabies.

Because of the last update, I completely stopped running the game, is this the norm or am I the only one who got into this?

The devs have just rolled an update to allow these ads to be disabled from the option menu. Can this drama please stop here? The rage over the update is honestly more annoying than the update itself.

No, the community actually complained about the SIZE of the update for a simple advertising, and actually they haven't fixed ♥♥♥♥, because the only thing they've done is to include an option to simply "hide" it. There's no way to circumvent the updates.

800MB to put in a banner and now 900MB to take it away ?
Hmm something sounds strange here

Your input has absolutely no value.

clueless..

the purpose of the complaints were to stop bloating our systems with 1gig adverts we could care less about or see and read within other hype mediums. not simply "hide" them with an option. resources we as fans would seek out or see anyway within the community of feeds. i don't need nor respect the inability of 11bit to respect MY computing resources. having the room is not the point. 1gig bloat that i did not request nor want is bs. and is my reason for stopping my support for 11bit anything.

your bloat my have worked for some consumers.. but has taking an opposite intended effect with me and my family. as long as the bloat ads continue, so will my choice to not support your future endeavors. bummed. i really do like your games. unfortunate your marketing team is disrespectful.

edit: "trash" was a bit to much. replaced.

all the best.

OK, the good:

We can now, at least, disable these adverts in the game.

The bad:

Why is this even a thing? I mean, I can understand (but not really condone) advertising Frostpunk 2 in Frostpunk, as this at least has a connection, but the advert I was seeing before I turned them off was for 'The Alters'. What the ♥♥♥♥ has this got to do with Frostpunk? I actually saw this game elsewhere, and was looking at it as maybe being a quite intriguing and interesting game, but if even the people involved in making and/or publishing it are so lacking in confidence about this game attracting players on it's own merits that they're pushing adverts for it in completely different games, I'm thinking maybe I should avoid it. If anything, this effort has utterly backfired, at least in my case.

For some of us, seeing ads of your own games was never an issue, some of us would love to be able to have our single-player purchase never be locked due to requiring a update. Most of us would also like new updates to be Opt-In but aside from one particular setting in game properties Steam has not facilitated that.
Your adware still wastes bandwith. Stop it.
