Scouts dying in Tesla City and Gloomy Cave

Sometimes they die, sometimes they don't. How can I get out alive?

It's RNG, so unless you want to save scum there is no guaranteed way to get the scouts out alive.

Unless you're playing on extreme or survivor mode, you can always make a save just before you arrive at the gloomy cave or tesla city in case the expedition ends badly.

Even without save scumming you want to take the risk, both from a risk vs reward standpoint and from a moral standpoint, although without save summing you're best off making sure to use a scout that is not transporting any resource you might lose when the scouts die. Also if I remember right, scouts that die in this manner do not count against the zero death achievement. You can lose scouts at Tesla City or whatever and still get the zero death achievement.

If you don't want to save scum, just make sure the scouts you send in aren't carrying anything you don't want to loose.
