Serenity is easier... and boring.
Builders is fun if you have the Last Autumn DLC
Settlements are nice to have but not necessary.
With bunker housing and heaters for work buildings you resist just fine.
With less tech to focus on while the generator is not done yet which means more ressource research done early.
Usually I focus on having bunkers and devzlopping ressources before the 2nd storm, having the first generator ressources ready and then start building the gen.
You should be done before day 50 where the real storms start and after that it's like regular endurance endgame.
I want to do a survival mode but I have to AFK because of IRL a lot
Probably the easiest endless mode/scenario to try out extreme difficulty.
Endurance is definitely the hardest, with fast dropping temperatures, and storms being 2 days long from the start.
Builders is a bit easier as the first storm will be brutal, but afterwards it only really gets harder at around day 50.
You should probably have played The Last Autumn scenario to somewhat know the generator building mechanics, although not all of them (especially the scenario unique laws) will be used in this mode.
If you started a builders mode endless, you may want to play The last Autumn first to learn the buildings.
