Will scouting WH cause a second Hope decrease?
[Spoilers] Idk if this is how it's supposed to happen or if RNG set some things out of order but before I scouted the bridge, a lone survivor showed up and told us Winterhome is gone. This triggered the Londoner mechanic and a massive decrease in hope. After a few days I resolved that and finished scouting the bridge. So resources are okay and hope is recovered to about half.

Now I see that Winterhome is a available for scouting. If I send my scouts there will this trigger a second decrease in hope? Their arrival will coincide with a -2 temp drop that is coming up so I cant afford another drop in Hope at the same time.

Has anyone experienced this specific sequence? For now I am scouting elsewhere to be safe.

I'm 99% sure you're good. There's one big Winterhome hope loss, and it happens from either finding Winterhome OR from the Winterhome survivor telling you about the fall.
The hope loss is from discovering that Winterhome is dead, you won't lose hope from going there after the lone survivor shows up to expire on your doorstep (and the survivor won't spawn if you scout Winterhome beforehand.)

On day 15 you will have to deal with the survivor, and The Londoners.

Thanks, sounds like a minor "fail" to my playthrough that I didn't find it before day 15 but oh well. We must push on.. I'll see what resources remain in Winterhome.

I'd argue it isn't a "fail" to your playthough. A lot of us will go out of our way to "fail to find" winterhome so we have all of those 15 days to get things set up as much as possible for when that drop happens.

What you did was basically the same tactic, but by accident :steammocking:.

Thanks! I guess theres no expectations as long as the city thrives. I almost hit 0 people sick for a few days and resources have all been abundant except steel. I just got my wall drill and kiln setup so as long as unrest remains at a minimum I have no immediate concerns. This is my first run through I can tell that if I forget to do a single thing, the whole things over. Just going to stockpile coal until the -3 temp level hits tomorrow... Need generator heat level 2 for that I assume. Then level 2 heaters if things are still too cold at the hot house. But so far so good!
