I have no solid statistical data to tell whether the evacuation goes well or goes south. My experience is that if the Dreadnought does not have 250 people by day 23-25, the evacuation is deemed not going well.
The results of the exploration is never revealed in the FOW scenario, but it is alluded that one of the five scouts reached New London in the end, triggering the Londoner event. But since in ANH you can avoid this event totally, the likely results are either one dying scout reaches New London , or all of them perish along the way. So basically, the Southern Trail spot is simply an Easter egg; If you want to get it, let the evacuation fail and you will get the Southern Trail.
IF you send that auto to the city you lose assess to all outposts past that bridge. This means a steel outpost. Without this steel outpost it is not possible to get perfect dreadknough. You can still win without it but you will not save the max possible people which is 500.
The weathermen location you lose nothing but the weather reports.
Storm shelter if left by sending scouts back day 25 you discover a new city. This allows you to calm your people by giving hope but you can control your people in other ways such as lieing to them (this also fixes the lie if done). The value of the eng are greater than the value of calming your people after day 25 thou. You dont get resources if you leave them there. You either take the 20 eng or leave them there to take them on day 25 or later when you go back. Note you can just go there in the first place after day 25 to the same result.
I made a mistake. It is the Storm Shelter, the further one not the Weather Station. Just mix up the name of the two engineer spots.
Has anyone left it alone and actually find it useful later on?
You get nothing if you leave other than no chance for the scouts to die. Its the same as tesla city or the bears. It is good to pick thou as it allows you to save than take everything in case you fail assuming not playing survivor.
