Child medics only work from 10:00 -18:00. A full child shelter still has to be maintained to be able to benefit from the apprentices at two medical facilities. Multiple child shelters can service multiple medical facilities.

Efficiency rises by 20% during the kids 8 working hours.

For medic apprentices there has to be enough operational Child shelters in order to provede the efficiency of medical buildings by 20%. I only go for the medic apprentices perk when it's needed to receive large quantities of sick people. I usually go for the engineer apprentice perk instead because I feel in general that it's better to be prepared by raising the efficency of workshops more in order to research faster and trying to prevent people from falling sick or getting frostbite instead as much as possible.

The same thing applies to engineer apprentices. They only work between 10:00 - 18:00 and each full child shelter benefits two workshops.

If you total the hours that children can work then child labour is more beneficial if taken to the full extent of the book of laws as for apprentices. Doing so runs the risk of a child death and is a no-no for a deathless run. You should dismiss child labour altogether for the Golden path.

Medical apprentices can be useful for research. People healing faster also means engineers in the workshops being healed faster and less need for engineers in infirmeries and medical tents.
