Then again im below the min specs. (i7 860, radeon hd5870, 8GB RAM)
No idea why, but it seems to be a workaround....
My machine is Alienware 15R4 that comes with Realtek Audio. Uninstalling the realtek driver did fix the problem but it was temporarily. Windows 10 will automatically re-install the driver, so no luck. Also, I noticed that the quality of the sound is getting worst if I don't use the Realtek driver.
I searched through the dissusion posts here and there and found that many people fixed this issue by uninstalling the so-called "Nahimic" software. However, there is no such thing in my Alienware. Installing latest versions of VC++ redistributes didn't work either.
So, I made a guess and uninstalled the Alienware Command Center. It works. The game run perfectly fine, no cracking sound, no shuttering, high graphic setting. It seems that the sound enhancing function in the AWCC may have some kind of a conflict with Frostpunk (there is no need to uninstall the Realtek Audio driver).
To be honest, losing the AWCC in order to play this game is a bit disappointing since other games run just fine with it installed. I wish the developer will come up with the solution in the future. :)
Well..., having Alienware logo showed in the game should implies that it can run very well on such system. Perhaps I am wrong :D
this game seems to be heavy onmy gcard, gotta start from low settings and test more and more till i find that sweetspot
using Alienware is the same deal as Apple, overpriced crap... sure the bling is nice, but i rather pick my pieces for top performance, manufacturers allways pick the lowest quality pieces.
Thanks for posting. The stuttering in cutscenes is usualy caused by the presence of Nahimic audio software - please get rid of it and all should work as intended. :)
Cheers!
