[Spoiler Alert] Opinions on the edge dlc
Warning, this thread will be spoiler heavy.

Okay, so I did my first playthrough and want to share opinions with you about the scenario.
I really like the idea of establishing trade routes between settlements and in fact become a trading settlement. I find the coal mine settlement not as useful because I managed to get my own coal mine which was everything I needed for supplies. The only thing I did not find good with the dlc is the shortage. I played it for about 4 hours.

It whould be awesome to get an endless mode of that scenario and you could choose which settlement you're playing. I know that wish won't become true. Edit: Some time after posting this I realized there are settlements for endless mode. Nice :)

What are your thoughts on the dlc?

My opinion will start by saying I'm at my 3rd game crash after day 30 when I send ressources to other settlements and that it's getting tiring !!!
CRASH WHEN I UPGRADE HOME REPAIR FOR THE COAL SETTLEMENT.

Otherwise I wasted precious time finding the settlement which provide wood after I exhausted all trees and piles.
Also the steel bottleneck is harsh, even when using the bonus which cost wood.
The mining camp is pretty useless as you can build coal thumpers but had I known I would need 3000 coal I would have build depot earlier...
The upgrade that require people are a little hard too, I never got more than 165 people having scouted all the map.
I may have encountered a bug: the food and people request from new london at at the end was automatically fullfilled without sending anything.

I felt a little screwed when the game asked the administration building to be located next to the generator while I had just place tent there...

Yes, I had the same wood shortage and searched the whole map for it. Guess what, I found the wood settlement last, was a bit upset that I did not find it literally next to the food settlement.

I used pretty much 24 hour shifts for that steel, but I just played on normal so there weren't many deaths.

Not a bug. If other settlements are loyal (maybe friendly is enough?) they send resources instead of you.

If the other settlements are loyal to you they will send the resources for the requests (Coal/Wood/Food) for you. The only request you always have to do yourself is the steel/steam core one.

Ok, that wasnt very clear.
Also for the few ending days I could not help the coal mine anymore with improvement, I wonder if it is intentional.
I also didn't unlock the achievement for exploring all locations (maybe the locations for the road to the coal mine count, because I couldnt unlock them)

3.7 hours to complete on normal mode (counting the 3 crashes)

On my next playthrough I will go for the wood settlement faster and ask ressources to them all the time, because I didn't on this playthrough, I asked only when necessary.

I really like the game play, but I hate the story. This is not MY New London!

Administrative bickering to no end and achieve nothing? What? Where is the captain?

Also, super short... It should be at least 50+ in game day.

The captain went to the outpost 11 ;)

I like it. Im not completely done with it but i did like the lower difficulty compared to the last autumn.

I've quite enjoyed it. Managed to maximise relationships with the three settlements in the first playthrough (normal) without loading, and fully upgraded two of them. Saving new london was a breeze after that.

This felt a bit more forgiving than the generator construction scenario... though they got me in the first playthrough for that one because I didn't know that you need to save hunting for later or you'll starve to death (unless you manage to finish the generator before the sea freezes, which I don't think many managed to pull off in their first playthgough hehe).

In this one there's room for mistakes, and you can mostly see what makes sense and what doesn't. I pulled through even after getting really unlucky with the exploration and unlocking the wood camp pretty much the last thing in the whole map.

Also, advanced coal mine is the way to go. One of those and you can forget about coal forever, which is a huge relief. Do not bother with thumpers or, god forbid, charcoal kilns.

It feels rushed, because I was not able to do most of the upgrades. Why put in all the options, when there is not enough time to do them?

Nice to read, somebody made all three settlements happy in playthrough 1. I didn't make it for the coal settlement. The kiln is a desaster trap, I was very happy about the coal mine slot, too. I guess that's way I didn't bother with the coal settlement.

advanced coal mine is 3 steam core, I went for steam coal thumper + 3-4 gathering posts. That may be why I felt like sending 20 workers to hot spring was harsh.
Most of the scenario you have too much coal. You will eventually need 2 24h braziers for housing and 2 other max for work places and that's 80% of the coal consumption.
Papa Spiritum Aug 20, 2020 @ 2:16pm
coal settlement is the most useless thing ever, tier 2 coal mine is all you need to beat this scenario at hard difficulty
