Did you lie about knowing of another city? (Winterhome Spoilers)
I told the truth and took the -10% productivity hit. Not sure if the decision had any other impact on my playthrough.

I'd be keen to hear from people who lied to keep morale high. Did it come back to bite you?

Yes. It came back. Engineers are too smart. Few of them. Were.

Depending on your outlook and how prepared you were lieing can be a good thing. I lied and all was well until some engineers told me they wanted an early ticket to the dreadnaught or else they would tell the city I lied. So a free ticket they got. After a day or two a similar event happened and I chose to tell the truth - after doing this about 150 people left the city for the dreadnaught when I chose not to supress them with lethal force. It was good for me bacause it would take almost 3 days to transport that many people and it was easier to save up food rations to later send to the dreadnaught.

A good chucnk of hope got lost aswell but if you keep doing evening prayers and the temple buffs during the playthrough hope shouldn't be much of a problem.

I tried the Lie option the other day. Hope fell only slightly, compared to all the way down if you tell the truth, and later on, when an engineer came to me threatening to tell the truth, I had the option to just kill him. So I did. I lost one engineer but nothing else happened.

It's a good option if you play on Hard or Survival I guess, minus one engie is no big deal. Then again dealing with hope is only tough in the beginning. Later on, with all the churches and prayers it's not a problem. You might as well tell the truth.

Truth-teller here: the decision comes at a point where your settlement should be bustling along under its own power, so I figurd I'd bite the -10% productivity to forstall any negative events.
