Emission reduction
To get the emission reduction achievement can I still use the factory to build parts for the generator?
anything specific I might miss? can I even collect coal?

The only thing you are not allowed to build is the Ventilation Plant & Bath House - meaning that you need to work in Harmful --> Dangerous --> Very Dangerous conditions - both would exclude you from the conditions.
That obviously also means that you have to break a promise if you want Comfortable housing. You cannot place and build the bath house.

It does not mention anything about coal producing buildings, just that you are not allowed to build coal consuming buildings until the Generator is done this does, obviously, not include the Foundry as Steel Composites is necessary to finish the Generator in the first place.

I suggest that you do achievements like this on Easy as they build faster, research faster, get resources faster and thus you have to worry less about potential issues. You would, also, have to install the measures to counteract the explosions that happens as you won't be having the safety necessary to evacuate people through Rescue Teams and/or Rescue Tunnels.
This achievement by default, makes it impossible to get the achievement not having anyone dying as that requires building a Ventilation Plant.

I see, I figured as much.
I had done as you said previously and not gotten the achievement and thought it was something even harder.
I guess it was just a bug or a glitch.
Sounds like it bugged out for you.

There is no way to make the Generator without having a Foundry which again requires you to at the very least gather coal.
It may be even more extreme and require that you don't take the Bath House law? This obviously pose an issue as you won't get access to Comfortable Housing and thus won't be able to keep up 30% efficiency for a longer duration..

It is possible you can make do without and once the generator is done - you get the bath house and comfortable homes.

Your also not allowed braziers onto of the above listed stuff. The only coal use allowed it making the parts.

Unlikly to get that far if doing on easy but never no Mabye you made one so covering the bases

Right, it is correct you need to.
1. Finish a perfect generator before day 37 - including upgrades, post 37 it will be impossible as you have to wait for the icebreaker.
2. You can never build any coal consumption building. No Bath House, No Heaters, No Braziers and no Ventilation Plants.

The wording in the achievement is highly misleading as it says you need to finish the generator without coal consumption buildings, it does not mention that it needs to be a perfect generator (achieving a perfect generator before day 37 automatically ends the game as you get send back home).

To do this on difficulties such as Hard/Extreme I suspect you would need Advanced Docks + 2x Advanced Reloading Stations on each Dock to supply enough Wood/Steel so that you can use Steam Exchangers often enough for the work to progress fast enough (that is not necessary on easy/normal).

And yes, I did not know that you could put upwards 3x Reloading Stations on a Dock.. So I guess that's why they're less effective than the Dock itself - although 2x Advanced Reloading Stations with the 10% tech collects fast enough that only those two are ever needed.

Next up, this on extreme, but without the zero emission achievement (got all 7 achievements I wanted in this easy run xD.. Just wanted to test for ya really - did not expect to save everyone, to get 20 orders in, to finish before day 35, to have a full convict colony, to only use fishing harbors, or no extended/24hr shifts - though that last one is definitely bugged.. I totally ran 24hr shifts the moment I could xD).

Worth to note. Get them 50 workers and 12 Engineers. They are a god sent and let's you order some lovable Steam Cores instead (basically they're 4 days of requests....!)
Also, be kind.. Get people them prosthetics when the entire ♥♥♥♥ blows up - it's not worth it compared to sending them home, but.. eh.. Sometimes it's good to be the kind dictator type.

You don’t need a perfect gen nor do you need to finish it pre snowfall. You don’t even need a perfect gen if you want to end the game pre 37 only a gen as the game lets you pick to keep going or not.

I did myn after the snow falls with a imperfect gen please don’t spread missinfo.

The only requirement is not making coal buildings and finishing the gen in any way. which means if you wait till snow you have to deal with the cold which means deaths. You can’t use heaters as that’s the building using coal also. People will die but esp on easy even with no heat gen at all you won’t lose as not enough tokens for everyone to freeze even if you sell every house to maximize how cold they are.

In my case this is exactly what I wanted as wanted as the eng to die. As was doing more than one achivment at the same time.

The only requirement is don’t make any building that uses coal. The only place you can use coal is in production of parts as than it’s not the building using coal but the part.

And I purposefully send them home after just making the generator and my achievement did not fire. I reloaded the last autosave point, chose to stick around, finish a perfect generator and the achievement merrily fired. So, either it bugs out which I wouldn't be surprised it does - the no extended/24hr shift bugs out and awards you the achievement even if you use them.
So meh, please. It's not like I did not test it first. Please stop assuming people spread "misinformation" just because you didn't have an issue.

Not an assumption that its missinfo. It is missinfo as the achievement not only doesn't say you need a perfect gen, it dose trigger if you don't just since you had a issue doesn't make it not missinfo. You assuming that you need a perfect gen is the bad assumption in this case. If you told him to try finishing a perfect gen it would not be missinfo but helpful advice but you told him you NEED a perfect gen which you don't. As you left no room for your assumption to be wrong it is missinfo. If you said for you it required a perfect gen than it would not be missinfo as than it would of been your experience not presenting it as fact. One case of it not working is not enough to make a statment of fact with no room to be wrong esp when the wording of the achievement would point to it being working incorrectly if you needed a perfect gen leading it to be more likely that it was bugged as such getting a perfect gen is safer till fixed.

Even spending a sec to google before making the assumption of its needed to be a perfect gen and telling people that would see a post on reddit of people talking about exactly that and people saying no just don't use them and it works fine from there experience. Stating something as fact without having anything to support it and being wrong is missinfo even if you "tested" first. Saying from your run or your test thou than stating it as fact would not be as leaves room to be wrong due to it being your experience.
