I think it is a great realistic addition to the game that you cannot heal prisoners unless they are released, which raises discontent significantly. If you have the ability to sacrifice the discontent levels then you can save the life of a prisoner. It's about how well you prepare and play the game on an emotional/moral level to be able to make that sacrifice and tough choice to save a life even though they're a criminal. It touches on the real life death penalty debate. Some players who support it will let them die in prison. Others may see the sacrifice worthwhile.
A suggestion for the devs, though, who I do think read into the steam forums:
Create the ability to select an individual prisoner and opt to treat them in a medical facility. While that might increase discontent to a degree, and I don't think that it should be more than 10-15% increase in overall discontent for each prisoner the player chooses to release to be treated. That way if the player is diligent about treating prisoners, if done well, as each prisoner gets sick they can be treated with minimal effect on, say, the Londoners gaining followers. Sure it's one more thing to micromanage but I would really like that opportunity to treat a sick prisoner instead of having the only option as to shut down the prison enirely.
Ultimately I agree with the levels of discontent associated with closing the prison. I just wish there were additional options to treat sick prisoners.
It's less than a month old. Don't be worried about necroing threads that are barely out of diapers.
On-topic, not being able to heal prisoners or at least keep them alive, though ill, amkes no sense. There are employees in the prison, why aren't they treating the sick? This doesn't happen in real prisons, not even Guantanamo Bay, unless they are in really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ little third rate countries run by ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
