Random events are brutal.
Barely surving the first storm just for your coal mines to be taken out. Brutal :/

5 days later and everyone is too sick to work, and we have no hope of survivng the next storm. Desperately need new people, can't find any.

They're random, so you can save-scum around them. Or suffer. It's meant to be pretty brutal. I've another thread with a listing of possible hazards....

And yeah, sometimes you just can't seem to find any survivors.....

The worst part is they hit you right when you don't have any resources left.

I got a good early game (through storm 2) going now after like 5 attempts, but I haven't been transitioning into using Factories to make prosthetics. I need to stockpile them before storm 3, becuase that -100 gave me like... 50 amputees lol

Which, of course, resulted in a game over.

I think I need to go coal thumper instead of coal mine. The T1 coal mines suck anyway. Coal thumpers scale way better with low tech levels. I can have several different steam coal thumpers each working at half load feeding 2 gathering huts for really great income.

First Storm survived no issues. I get event that cuts efficiency of my Hunter's Hut by 90%. I had like 4 Hunters hut, had to quickly plop down 2 Hot Houses.
Second Storm Survived no issues. Finally get final upgrade for Scout Sled speed. I end up getting the event that cuts Scout Speed by 50%.
Third Storm survived with no issues. I get the event that makes all buildings require a ton more steel to make. I ended up having to put both Steel Mills on overtime.
Fourth Storm survived with no issues. I end up getting the event that makes all Steam Core building 90% less efficient. All my freaking building are Steam Core buildings. I ended up having to throw down some Coal Thumpers just to keep up with Coal.
I'm currently waiting on the Fifth Storm, but I ran into a glitch and am currently waiting on the developers to fix it before I move forward.

The random event's aren't that hard, you just have to learn to pivot your focus whenever you get hit by them. Best way to keep your workers from getting sick Child Shelters and then Medical Apprentices. That 20% does help during the day.

i find i seem to be ok as long as i go child labour and religion, so far i can't seem to get past storm 3 with child shelters and the order path :o order seems to need to many people from resources to work :( and without children mining i keep running out of people!

yet i keep trying!

For me this has been one of the best games, i'm constantly beat yet i go back for more, on the flipside when i survive past 100 days i get bored....

There's really no reason to have many amputees. Even if you don't want to research infirmary that early, Child Labor and House of Healing are a great combo in Endless, and you can have them both in the first few days, freeing all your engineers for research.

I think something was going wrong, I got 50 or so in a few days. I think they probably all walked to the graveyard for a funeral and died because its -100 degrees.

Do you have Prosthetic? Get some Prosthetic and fix them up.
Also, don't forget to unassign workers from Beacons, Hunter's Huts and Hot Houses when the storm hits. They're too dumb to know not to go to work and they'll freeze to death if you don't.

I did all that. I need them working the coal thumpers anyway.

When you get 50+ amputees that early on the game is over, there's no way you can recover. Everyone else was sick :/ and I couldn't afford **500 steel** for prosthetics.

Yeah its pretty hard even on normal dif. but not impossible.
Child Labor seems a way more effective way then Child shelters at least early on.
Coal thumpers a way better then coal mine for first weeks bc they request no steam cores and with upgrades gathering post a way more effective and warmer.

My biggest issue - hope. Its almost imposible to keep it near 40-50% at day 70 without Propaganda house. And huh... if you take propaganda - you always lose at least 10 workers due to events.

You shouldnt unassugn workers from beacon - they just should stay in the city when storms hits.

I haven't lost any workers to events yet. I just keep hope right around where it needs to be (10% lol). I'm playing on hard/hard/hard.

The only events I've used my propaganda on so far are for squashing requests I can't possibly keep them happy on. Aka:
1) Cold houses
2) Long work hours

They've been working 14 hour shifts since day two it's not ending any time soon >:T
And they have the nerve to ask for warm houses 1 day before the blizzard stops. Get real pops.

I've found that this isn't true. Plus, I can always move more people to my coal thumper arrays, unmanned guard towers, etc. All my mechs get moved out to frozen workplaces and my hot places are replaced by workers.

You always lose some people due to events. Propaganda - one person just kill himself. Second - from 5 to 7 person on random factory. I could manage to avoid first one (you should just destroy propaganda before events but with seconds ?
