Increase population in Endless?
Started an Endless run. My first initial scouts, found 2 camps of survivors... After that, nothing, and the population keep die off being hit by cold waves. Chance is I end up with a bunch of automatrons and nothing else :p

Yeah that's exactly what's supposed to happen

I have been able to find survivors on every difficulty until I either get past day 100 or I hit pop 650+. once either of those benchmarks are hit, the new pops stop being able to be found. This applies to all difficulties of endless mode

Devs said the game had problems rendering 700+ survivors or something, so they made a cap on population so you didn't end up with 1000's of people. Sure makes the Flats a pointless map though.

I can understand then, but when you feel you about to die off. Maybe add more survivors to be found on the map. Idk.. would seem sensible.

in endurance mode you are capped. In the serenity mode, you can get above 700 pops in less than 20 days. I stopped playing that one at that point because it isnt challenging, and the game does start to slow down.

Endless supposed to mean Endless, but If your population die off, Endless kinda end up short :p Maybe I just suck at the game, but sometimes you can't argue with cold :/ If your population goes to low, be able to find more people in the waste should be a thing. I'm at a stage where my population is made up of automatrons and children at great part.

There is a cap in serenity too.

I think you've just been unlucky with scouting, you should be able to keep finding survivors until you hit the cap. I can't tell you if dead people count towards the cap, though. I wouldn't think so. If you've got 650 kids you probably have a real problem on your hands, though.

This sounds horrible, but do I need to kill of kids to be able to find more adults, lol... TERRIBLE.

Imho, in a Endless mode, particular if you just play constructor, or city builder or what you want to call it. I think time management need to be different. Maybe kids should be able to grow up and so forth. On the other hand, game tend to get tedious and repeatable when drags out as well.

Hopefully you didn't go with Child Shelters. Never did much with New Faith/New Order, but I wonder if kids can qualify as traitors/heretics if you're unable to work them to death.

Yeah, endless gets pretty pointless after a while anyway. I'm sure someone out there can tell you exactly how many Resource Depots you can fit into the Flats map, just not really my thing, though.

I did, and made them help out in the clinics..

Well I have seen like two screenshots that show that a child has been executed because they were either an Atheist or public enemy

Well then, there you go! Get New Order/Faith, run the overdrive constantly, sacrifice a kid in when it's about to overheat, then sacrifice another kid at the execution square to make everyone happy again. Your surplus kids will be gone in no time, ready to be replaced by useful adults on your next scouting adventure. Endless mode can truly be endless. Might as well turn them to fertilizer afterwards, too, so newcomers don't ask uncomfortable questions.

Why not make them into food through the alternative food law?

Well I did that. I couldn't keep up with production of everything on the map, all warehouses maxed out. I had so many of them that the game would crash after I tried to build the next one. I had about 200,000 coal and over 4 years of food storage, and everything else was in the thousands maxed out too. But I couldn't build any more resource depots, the game would just crash every time I selected it on the build menu. Couldn't build anything actually, it was a limit to number of total items built I think.

Also, regarding numbers of survivors. I had 650 survivors, and after a little bit of boredom I decided to kill a few off. They were so resilient though. When the temp was -76 degrees I turned the heat range and power both to 1, and destroyed about 20 homes. But since I had researched everything at that point the infirmiries were too good, they healed almost everyone constantly. Also had about 60 prosthetics stored up so they all got new limbs too. In the end I only succeeded killing about 11 of them before the temp rose again.

Just trying to get the 15th relic, that's all. (EDIT: ok, I stopped building more stuff and just continued scouting, now have the 15th relic and the achievement popped instantly.)
