Dont get child workers but instead get the shelters and then get the research aprentice, then you get sustain life, care house, prosthetics and then lastly the cementary and the ceremonial funerarls and lastly you get the fighting arena and the pub this way you get the may hope before the bad things happen

How exactly are you losing hope? Do you break all your promises? Hope is supposed to keep coming down, but never to 0 if you keep going to Winterhome. Almost all the law to keep Hope high is at the Purpose tree you get after reaching there.

Seconding erneiz: the Hope loss from breaking a promise is killer. If you can't reasonably fulfil the promise (particularly if it's Cold Homes or Hungry People), it can be worthwhile to tell your people to stuff it.

The Care House is also a double-Hope boost: passing the law and building the house gives you a Hope boost, while there's a random event where someone leaves a thank-you note and boosts Hope slightly.

One slightly-cheaty thing to do is get Extended Shifts early, then maintain a whole bunch of them constantly, even if you don't need them. There's a request to not use Extended Shifts for 3 days, and it's fairly easy to trigger for a Hope boost (as long as you can afford to go without Extended Shift for that time).

PLAN PLAN PLAN!! Keep people alive, instead of drastic surgeries (or however that law is called) law, Child shelters, Child apprentices Engineer (prefferably, personally) Graveyards law, don't touch the soup or filler just hire more hunters, and build more Hothouses for food. care houses, complete citizen requests. with that alone i made it to day 10(yeah i know nothing special) with full hope and 0 disscontent. with only one death to an accident at the thumper. :/ which i think that too could of been avoided easily but i ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up somewhere..hm, :l anyways yeah. thats a way to do it.

How can you prevent such random deaths?

no deaths are random, they all have a cause

I thought it was funny that he describces two big hope reductions and did not recognize these actions had such effects.

Anyway yes do not do what you have done. Don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys--or heavy industry jobs or really just read up a little on history to see why there are child labor laws in must civilized countries.

But really if someone loses all their children, they're ripe to work in the house of restoring content, so there's always that fork you can take if you manage to make it that far along. It's better if hope is lost if discontent goes down with it!

So really the key things are:
Don't promise what you have no hope to deliver
Don't do anything that would disappoint your mom
Don't do anything that would give you gas

Some can't be avoided if you want to use certain mechanics.

IE: House of Healing always results in one death, and so does the propaganda center. However, these don't count against you for achievement purposes.

Well, in a sense they are random. For example, why do people sometimes die from extended work but sometimes they all survive until the end of the shift? Sounds like rng to me.
