How does building building work?

hello again,

i have a small question that i cant find an answer too...

how does the building building builders work?

you place a building and you get the black and white circle with 0/10, as this fills up the building starts to build, i assume that the /10 is the amount of builders that are working on the building.

but hw doese this work?

when do they build?

there seems to be no rhyme or reason to it, i can have only one building needing to b e built and it takes all day for builders to arrive or i can have 3 or 4 buildings and they start building imediatly

is there a way to control this? ie keep 5 people unemployed and buildings get built faster or place the buildings at a certian time of day etc

im curious to hear your thoughts

Building is a job just like any other meaning if you have everyone already assigned to other jobs then there will be no one left to build.. during the day. The majority of your building should be done after work hours when everyone is done. If you're playing on a scenario like New Home and you've got one or more hunter buildings with people assigned to them they double as builders as well once they've rested up. They're done resting around 15:00 so you'll start seeing a lot more activity after then. Keeping people unemployed for the sole purpose of building is kind of a bad idea unless it's very important or you've got a healthy workforce already.

The best time to start work on a new building is weirdly after work shift end. So don't start anything during the night (workers need their sleep).


You can also get your automation to do the work of building by keep one floating/unused. Just don't try to build too many and the lonely automation will be unable to keep up.


For your early building; You will need to plan what you will need the next day and queue them during the day which will ensure that they get build by your people after workshift ends.


Edit: Forget to mention one thing. Don't ever try to start a new building before workshift start because at that point workers will be starting their shift and will work on build new stuff. Which means you lose some productive time in the early morning.
